I have an early '02 Duramax with '01 injectors ... letter extending warranty to 7 years/200,000 miles is in glovebox ... question: is this warranty good for only a 1 time replacement of a set of injectors or will it cover all injectors (OEM and replacement) that may be required during the warranty period? :confused:

Usually, once a part is replaced under warranty, it is usually given its own "parts warranty" period that may or may not last longer than the factory warranty. But if you had two injector failures in the 100-200k extention, they would be covered. If the last set was done at say, 199k, and failed again at 210k, they would be covered by the 12/12 parts warranty. Am I making sense?

realizing this could change at most any second, we currently have 79,000+ on our truck with no sign of injector problems ... I am glad to hear that if the OEM set should fail after 100,000 miles the second set would be covered up to 200,000 ... if injector replacement became necessary and the truck still has less than 100,000 miles on it, would this replacement set be covered through the 200,000 mile extension or by a 12/12 parts warranty? ... really do appreciate the info ... do have a couple of friends with the same model trucks and none of us really understand the fine points of this warranty extension

Not even the warranty administrators understand, so don't feel bad. Usually, any repair of a previously repaired part is a parts warranty, as it isn't a factory installed part. But I don't see them telling you that the 12/12 has expired and now you are SOL, if you are still within the 200k. Each dealership is given discretion over decisions like these, how much depends on their customer satisfaction scores.

Max, We have been taught out here ( and that could be just a regional thing) that after warranty is up, its up. Given the example of the injectors, if they are replaced at 195k and go out at 205k, then technically the warranty is still up at 200k. If the customer paid for them at 205k then they have a lifetime warranty under the Goodwrench plus plan? This all confuses the hell out of me so I dont know either way.

Don't forget the 7 year time limit..........

Max Payne/dmaxalliTech... do appreciate your attempt to clear this up for me ... guess i need to make a trip over to see the service manager at our local dealership and see what he says .... my concern stems from the fact that we use our truck to travel extensively and the chance of a breakdown on the road is very real, I was looking for info (that appears to not be available) to make sure I understand what this extension entitles us to and what it doesn't

So technically speaking once a part is no longer factory installed it is no longer under the original vehicle warranty and now covered only by the parts warranty?? For example I had my Fuel reg replaced at 2 yrs./25k, so technically the warranty would run out at 3yr/37k on that part and not at the original engine warranty of 5yr/100k?

My take would be a 7 year 200 K warranty is just that,just like the 3 year 36 k. If the part fails with in the warranty period GM is going to have to pay. Now I would believe the replace all 8 is a one shot deal.
