: In dire need of new shocks!!

Ok, I have an 80,000 mile 2001 GMC Sierra 1500HD 4x4 truck, and I'm sure it needs new shocks ;) It rides like it has NO shocks.

I need something to replace the stockers, that is smooth, yet heavy enough to pull a trailer. I don't haul alot, but I do offroad occasionally, going down to our river house.

I'm looking for suggestions on what to get so that this beast doesn't buck so bad ;)

Thanks for any help.

P.S. Sometimes when I hit the brakes the rear end kinda vibrates/jumps. Friend said it was just time for brakes, though I'm thinking this could possibly be a warped rotor as well. Any takes on this or advice? Thanks a ton!

Bilsteins are an awesome set of shocks that you will really like along with a lot of other people.

Yeah, I've heard some great things about bilsteins, what series should I get?

Also, I have a "Leveling" kit on the truck, it has a shock spacers up front, It's supposed to be a 3" lift up front that consisted of new keys and shock relocators, and if I remember correctly, a 1inch block in the rear. But when I crank the Tbars up to get the full 3inch and level it out, it rides rough as hell. Would shocks fix this?

As well, should I get the stock to 1" lift set up or a bigger setup? I'm confused as the rear is around the same, while the front isn't.

Thanks again!

Part of your rough ride could be because you may be hitting your bumpstops with you control arms.

Nick just installed Bilsteins on my new Dmax. (Thx Nick ... ride's great!)

That means I have 4 nearly-new factory shocks w/less than 1,000 miles ...
if you're looking to save half a D-buck. ;)
(Sorry, not sure how the '07+ 2500HD shocks size-up versus your '01 1500HD. )

When I installed my Bilsteins, I hadn't realize how bad my old shocks had gotten. It's kind of like driving a brand new truck off the showroom floor.

Talk to one of these vendors. They will make sure you get the right ones.

Bilsteins are the way to go. As soon as I pulled out of my driveway they paid for them selves!

I got the blue and yellow shocks from Kennedy. I had 78,000 miles on what I
believe to be the original shocks. They made a great improvement.:ro)
