A salesperson at the local stealership says that the only real difference between a 2500HD and a SRW 3500 is the 3500 has higher rated tires and that is what makes up the difference in the ~700 lbs payload. Is this this true for BS?

They also have one more leaf spring and a progressive helper spring.

Also, if your talking gassers and 6.0's, you'll go up to the 11.5" ring gear (Dmax's all have the 11.5" already regardless of 25 or 35)

Also, no aluminum wheels on the 3500's.

in addition to what Lawnboy said about the rear springs:

16x6.5" aluminum or steel wheels on the 2500HD

16x7" steel wheels on the 3500SRW

also, 3500SRW is only available in RC LB, EC LB & CC LB

It rides rougher than the 2500HD unladen as well.

It has 265 wide tires that are taller.

Price is about the same, if not cheaper. I think my MSRP was $250 less than the same 2500HD truck.

Well, the aluminum wheel option is $200, so then it's only $50 cheaper.

Still a great deal, and the best way to go if your OK with an 8 foot bed.

Problem is, they're quite rare. Ordering is about the only way to get one optioned out.

There isn't enough room on the frame for attaching the overload spring perches on the short beds.

It doesn't surprise me that the sales guys don't know what they are selling!
God I love this forum!
