i have been reading this forum for a while and just got registered tonight. But i have a 02 LB7, 57k on it. My trucks got a ticking noise like a typewriter from the engine. i took it to the dealership told them what i was hearing. i also told them i was concerned about my injectors form all the info i have read on this site. well they told me they ran some kind of computer test and my injectors were fine. they also said they could not hear a ticking noise. there is no fuel in my crankcase either they said i was fine. I have also notice a big decrese in fuel milage. i went from getting 19 to 15 mpg over the course of a month, i did put some 285 bfg mt on there. but i never thought it would go down that much. also recently a Low engine power light came on in my truck. cut the trucks power in half . but i turned the truck off and let it sit and the light shut off and everything seems to be doin fine. i just wanted to get some of yalls thoughts on this thanks justin.

how long have you owned your truck? have you experienced winter fuel yet? it will decrease your mileage about how you have stated. oh yeah, welcome to the site!! wil

If you put on bigger tires and didn't change the speedometer, then that is some of the milage lost. With bigger tires, you speedometer will show you drove less miles then you really did.

What Hustler said is right on. If your truck came stock with 245's, and you put on 285's, your mileage will go down, but not that much. You will however, have an 8% error on your speedo & odo. Next time you calc your maileage, add 8% to your total miles driven and you will find your mileage is not too far off from before.

Have them check for this...

Or more likely, it's just the "random ticking noise", which is very common and not a problem at all...

Look at this tsb :

no, this is my first diesel truck, i'm not sure about the winter fuel, my foreman has a 99 cummins and i don't think he has metioned that. i had 275 wore out michelins when i bought the truck. but i was getting 19 mpg. but mabe me buying the tires right here coming up on winter here in NC, put together made a big drop. but your right my speedo is about 5 miles off from stock. What do yall think about that ticking noise anything with my injectors? i know it might be random but i have been next to other duramaxs that don;t do that -Justin

one more thing about a tsb? are the dealership supposed to fix all the tsbs on are trucks free of charge. or are they just something to keep us aware of problems. I told my dealer about the tsb on the steering shaft. He didn't even know what it was..

I had the same issues regarding the ticking noise as you describe. Most of the veterans on this site attribute it to the detonation resonance effect documented in the GM TSB posted above. The sound seems to eventually go away in most cases and is totally normal for the Isuzu diesel.

Have fun and drive the tar out of your riggin!

Most of the TSB's that I can recall are suppose to be fixed as long as your truck is still under warranty. IIRC they will still fix certain things out of warranty. I know the tailgate cables and other things that are factory recalls and deemed dangerous will be fixed no matter what. At least that is what I was told... I could be wrong...
