I've got a turndown pipe that i'm going to put in front of the muffler and point it out.My banks system is falling apart(tip fell off, holes everywhere). Is there anyone out there that has done this, is it too loud what. Also does it sound a lot better without the muffler.

i just put a turn down where my stock muffler used to be and it does sound pretty cool. i still have the factory "crushed" downpipe and the soot trap and all that junk. but even with all of that is still has a roar to it.

I cut my exhaust off right in front of the soot trap and I personally hate it. I can deal with the noise but at low RPM's, like pulling out from a stop sign I get unbelievable vibration in the cab, its like when the exhaust causes that downpipe to reach a certain frequency it just vibrates really badly. When about that RPM it smoothes out and is just loud. I just can't handle the vibration.

It's because it is right under the cab, makes it seem a lot worse.

Mine is straight-piped from the 3" downpipe to splitters into 2 1/4" duals. Not really loud but had a deep sound to it. No real cabin drone as it turns out at the back of the rear tires.

My Banks muffler is falling apart too. All rotted and leaking at the seams. I can't believe I need exhaust already, it doesn't seem like it's been that long, but I guess it's probably been 4 years at least, and 40,000 miles. I've put exhaust on almost every vehicle I've ever had, but I've never owned a vehicle long enough to change exhaust more than once.
I'm just going to remove the muffler and run some straight pipe to the tailpipe so it still exits behind the rear wheels. Just need to find some 3.5 flexpipe or something because the inlet and outlet are offset on the Banks muffler. This system is too quiet- 3" w/cat delete option to muffler to 3.5 tailpipe. Unless I get under there and more than the muffler looks rotted, then it's all coming off and I'm going 4 inch all the way.
