I like to read the posts here and soak up as much as i can about the 6.5 since I own two of them.I Read about crank pulleys and noises associated with them. Guess what ? Mine was making a clunk when I shut the truck off. Think I can fix this with some glue ? :) (See pics)
BTW Heath sells them although not on thier website. Ian says he gets them from same manufacturer as GM. Unfortunaly I may go the stealer route if the have it in stock because I'm in a jam for time.

I glued one on a 6.2L. It wasn't as bad as that one, though. Seems to have worked. going on 1.5yrs and 70,000km!

I think we had another member on here at one time that did glue his, suffered a crank failure about a year later, but don't know if it was glue related, or other stuff that he had operating way out of what stock/factory/OEM specs were.... don't cry when you break 'em if you're gonna push 'em too far....

Mine made a big clunk when I shut the truck off. It was also a little noisy while running. I thought it might be the compressor clutch/pulley bearing but now I think it may have been the pulley. Won't know till I get the new one hopefully tommorow. This I can tell you it is hard to see from the front. Mine didn't look that bad from the front but I saw like fresh metal scrapes on it. My advice would be if you have alot of miles(I'm at 168k) then the best thing to do it pull it off and look. It's easy to remove. I had mine off in under ten minutes without pulling rad or fan. Just don't do like me. Wear gloves so when the bolts on the pulley break loose you don't scrape your hand into the fan blade. IMO pulling it off is the best way to check because then you can also get a good look at the inner damper also.

That's why I'm buying it from the stealer. To make sure it's the right one. SS sells them as well as NAPA but I question who makes it and to what specs. Heath also sells them. If I went non stealer that would be my second choice. I would trust thier reputation.I had PM'd the guy from Fliuddampr but no response and given what Scat said I don't think I'll be the gineau pig.

Dealer is a thief. 240$ for crank pulley. I will definitley get it from Heath when the one on my 95 goes. UNfortunatly I needed mine today for my 2000 and the good ole crook had it in stock.

I was in the same boat this summer. Good ole Canadian stealer wanted over $400:eek:. I had no choice but to bend over and buy it, truck had to go to work.

I think NAPA's price was $80 something, my notes are at home, the big auction site has a guy that has new GM units for a reasonable price also.
