What Do I Need To Do To My Truck To Run The 120 Hp Or The 160 Hp Tune. I Have A Buddy Who Has The 90 Hp Tune And It Is Great For What Him, Better Milage And A Little More Towing Power. I Just Want That Little Extra Power. Thanks.

Depends on how you drive..If your gonna be racing, and driving hard, you'll need a tranny upgrade. If you want it for the every now and then pep for passing ect, the stock tranny will work, but for how long..? On the 120 setting you should be o. k. If you don't abuse the truck. Also, you'll see better mpg on the higher hp settings.

Hammer 4 Are We Talking Full On Tranny Upgrade, Like A Sun Coast Stage 5 Or Is There Somthing Less I Can Due For Now. I Plan On Going Way Deeper Into Moding My Truck, But Not For A Couple Of Years. As Far As Driving Style, I Guess You Could Say I Do Drive Hard. I Don't Have The Pedale To The Floor All The Time , But I Don't Drive Like Grandma. Truck Shifts At About 2200 To 2400 Rpms, If That Helps You. Now Will My Stock Fuel Pump Handle That Much Power And Do I Need A Exhaust Or Intake. Thanks Alot.

I think with the 160 hp tune, you could prolly get by with a sc III, best to call Mike L and get the exact info. re: tranny upgrades for the hp you wanna run. No need for dual fuelers, ya may want to look into a lift pump, not sure if you'll need it though. Definitly get a 4" exhaust if you don't already have one, it'll help lower EGT's..which is a good thing, especially if your towing.:D You'll want to get a boost and pyro gauges, a SD intake manifold comes pre tapped for the boost gauge. Check with Guy at So Cal Diesel, he has them in stock.

I run my truck on the PPE 90hp tune. I don't drive hard, but the other day I punched it, and it seemed to slip in the 1-2 shift. I let off immediately and have never got back on it hard. I plan on upgrading the trans very soon, just to have piece of mind. I have a lift in my garage, so I could take it out and have some put a kit in it or I could just do a transgo kit. Not sure which route to take though.

Hammer 4,
Which setting on the PPE Xcelerator do you use? Any trans upgrades?

Level 5 (225 hp) stock tranny..I drive like an old lady most of the time, and I Never launch it hard,If I gas it, it's usually a steady type of acceleoration..and so far, I've had no tranny issues, it shifts crisp, and clean, no flairing (slipping) at all.

I plan on getting a SC 4 installed when I get the $$$$$..

Btw, I get the best mpg's on the 225 hp setting..:D

One other thing..Max, did you do the tranny "Re Learn" and if so, did you give it sufficent time to re learn, i.e. about 30 miles of city driving..?

SC III + PPE Hot+2 E.T.= Lots of fun and trouble free operation. Just a shift kit isn't going to help much on an 03.
