well, finished up putting new heads on the truck, finally!:) But now i am getting surging when i am stopped or idling, Also hard starting but when it does start to catch i can hit the throttle and it will start and run ruff for about 1 minute, and last but not least @ 2800 rpm it starts sputtering until it shifts gears. i have read lots threads on surging but just seems like its either IP, injectors, or pump. Any help is always appreciated and i am going to pick up my friends scanner so i can fill out the form. THANKS

Have performed a lift-pump test?

i can hear lift pump when key goes on, but how long should it run and should i wait for it to stop b4 i start

depends if it's warm out but it should run for about 5 secs. if it's cold out it will run for 10 secs. or more.you should not wait for it but wait until the glow plugs light goes out. But I would still check the lift pump anyway.

my truck was doing the same exact thing..surged sometimes at idle and stop sometimes it didnt..little bit of power loss..i checked the lift pump..usin the t valve and it died..bought a new pump and all problems went away.

the lp thats on is only a month and a half old, but i've noticed the past 2 days that if i wait til the lp stops the truck starts fine, im gonna replace the fuel filter tomorrow and c what happens.
