My 05 dmax has a sound I do not find normal, but could be please give me your experience with your trucks.

At about 2500 RPM in 5<SUP>th</SUP> gear my dmax sounds like it is twice as loud as at any other speed. If I push the pedal down it quiets down again but if I let off and it hits that RPM then it sounds like the injectors are going to explode. The popping sound is much louder and stronger. I also know that this co-insides with the speed of 84 MPH. Is this normal? Please let me know what your trucks are doing. Thanks

What you describe is Pilot Injection shut off noise. Try a search and you should get further information besides that it's a Small shot of diesel prior to combustion that quiets the Diesel Rattle and I believe also NOX reduction in exhaust.At approx 2500 rpm it no longer is in effect.
