Yup, its basically a bolt-in. Try a search on performancetrucks.net :)

There are a few running around, however, the 5.3 gets so much better mileage and runs pretty good with a s/c or turbo, why would you waste the time and effort?

That's kinda what I was thinking as well, but they say there is not replacement for displacement, so in the spirit of hot rodding, Git'R'Done! :D

Same motor mounts and pretty much all the hook ups. Need to change the computer for the 6.0 and have some fun. I think the 6.0 in a 1/2 tonner with a tune would be a nice rig.

if i install a supercharger or turbo instead of the swap are their any other mods that must be done with it to avoid damage

Again, if you search on the website I listed above, there is more info than you can shake a stick at for turbo-ing, supercharging, adding nitrous, swapping motors etc. Remember that blue reg cab shorbox on the net, and in hot rod that ran bottom 10's on a turboed 408? The guys screen name is parish8, and he is on there quite regularly, and helps a ton.

If you havent heard of him, here is a link that has him running at about the 4:30 mark, and at the end.

Good luck! :)

Sorry but I would not put the 6.0L in place of a good running 5.3L. I would mod the 5.3L as they rev faster and can generate more hp than the 6.0L in stock trim packages, I have seen this time and time agian on the dyno but the 6.0L will out pull the 5.3L when it comes to towing. If you really want to change the motor out than go with an LS6 or 403-410cid stroker kit and it will scream like a banchee.

What he said. Aluminum block, better flowing heads. Stroker kit & other mods readily avalible. Best part is, direct bolt in. Make sure you get the PCM too.

I agree,, if you are gonna go through all the work get something hotter than a 6.0,, although its a nice motor.

Actually, The 6.0 is not hard at all. All the small block 3rd gen gm v8s parts are interchangable. from the 4.8,5.3,5.7 to the 6.0. as far as making more power out of a 5.5 Ummm..... Sorry but mod for mod the 6.0 will make more power every day. As far as doing a LS6 swap. For the money your gonna spend on a LS6 you can build a much badder iron block lq4 and the weight difference is only about 100 or so lbs.

Theres some guys running around with some LS1 trucks thats a pretty bad ass but the faster ones are 6.0 based and some are stroked to 408s. Do a search on performancetrucks.net. Lots of great information over there on anything you want to know about the engines.

Remember --- all the stroker kits and cams and everything internal (other than pistons because of the bore) will go directly into the LQ4 (coming in the HD trucks) and LQ9 (Coming in the Denali/ Escalade/ Silverado SS/ Vmax trucks) has higher compression hence the more HP). The heads are a direct swap as well. I know there are some guys are running the LS1/ LS6 intakes but not sure if they had to do any mods to make them work.

I know, if you look in the dyno chart/hp club you will see a truck of mine held the record for strongest STOCK engine with bolt ons in a truck for along time till the ststurbo kit was put on a Trailblazer SS. I will take an LS6 any day over a 6.0L because it is a far better motor out of the box and will take the beating you give it.

But for the price of the LS6 you will get more power by building a 6.0 and have the same durability.

I am still a firm believer is there is no replacement for displacement. Part for part the more cubes you have the more power you will make.

Im not trying to be an ass here. Im just trying to help the guy out in making power.

Id put money on it that if you took that same set up you hold the record with and put it on a stock 6.0 with bolt ons you would make a good bit more power. Thats all Im saying here
