Got my HP Tuners box today. So far i am not impressed......

Anywho, i cannot even use my software until i find out what my application key is. Apparently i was supposed to get it in an e-mail... didn't happen. So then FAQ says to do the login... it tells me invalid when i input my serial number and email address. Hopefully i am doing something wrong and you can tell me what it is.

New Customer Creation Error

The information you have entered was invalid. Please hit back to try again.

We are off to a bad start, I wanna use this NOW DAMMIT !!!! :D

Any help on obtaining my application key would be super, thanks.

All the companies are away this week for SEMA so you do have to give them a break.

These companies all make enough dough to have a tech person available. So what they are saying is that they are trying to sell more products and are not concerned about keeping current customers happy?

they seem to be lacking what efi live provided me with in the first place.I think this may find it's way to ebay this weekend. We will see how things turn out.

I understand sema is going on, i don't understand shutting down a business to try and gain more customers... Perhaps taking care of paid customers would be in effect WHILE trying to get more customers....

I understand i am impatient but i feel when i pay for something and then get it in the mail i shouldn't have then jump through hoops to get an application key.

Efi Live, i paid, i recieved 3 days late and began using it that night.

Sold that to try HP Tuners to see what the difference could be.... I would tell you what the difference is but i can't even view the software without the key...

I did a test. I e-mailed EFI LIVE with a bogus claim.... Just to see how long it would take for them, so i have an accurate comparison. I had a reply within 2 hours and included was instructions on how to fix that situation.

If EFI LIVE can have someone stick around and fix something then so can HP Tuners.

Heres the e-mail

Hi Greg,

The FlashScan V2 does not have a limit imposed as such. There is a setting in the Scan Tool properties that you should check, that will stop logging after so many frames. The setting is highlighted in the attached image. I hope that this is simply set at a value which might explain your experience.

i have a v2 and when trying to log it seems to shut off in the middle of my trip. Is there a time limit it can log? It happens after about 15 minutes of driving.

Nothing personal I was just explaining that Sema is going on & they might be short staffed. I do understand being short staffed is tough to do.

So you were going to be a reseller for hptuner then also? Is efi live now going to tune the dodge & the fords that you wanted then?

Ya, i was considering being a reseller for them. Not gonna happen. if i have a customer that has a probelm and HPTuners is gone on vacation for a while.... I look bad.
Ford is only covered by 2 vehicles.... not useful to me right now.

Basicly, the HPTuners set up is ridiculous. i am not the only person with this application key problem. They have dealt with it before. Why not come up with a way to prevent this?

If i spend money on something i want to use it when i get it. HPTuners is not capable of providing that. You buy from them directly or you have to contact tech support to get the key if you don't. HPTuners is a joke. If i don't get what i want for this garbage on ebay then i will just have to use it..... Monday i should get a response on the application key. Same day as the auction ending. I set aside this weekend to get my truck taken care of and now i can't. Screw that.

Yeah sorry guys that "vacation" took up my entire week and we didn't have a secure connection there so we didn't want to risk compromising our server. Im back now & have been busting my butt trying to go through all the emails I received this past week.

I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused anyone but SEMA really isn't a vacation when your sitting in your booth answering questions for 8 hours a day ;)

Have a great night guys, back to the emails.

i have received an e-mail and a pm @ the HPTuners website. Both from different people. It appears they are honestly working on helping me out. I ended my ebay auction after realizing just how cheap this unit is. I don't have much money into it and i figure i may as well run it and give it a try as I initially wanted to.

Yes I sincerely apologize as your reseller should've given you your application key so that you could at least get up and running. I have sent you your application key as well as setup your account so that you can now create & login to your customer page now.

I appreciate the patience.

I agree the person that sold it to you should have some blame also. They could not give you the information you needed? Is there a vendor on this site that sells hptuners?

I believe he purchased through one of our newer resellers via a GP of some sort but via a different forum if im not mistaken. It'll definitely be a learning experience for us and them as we've taken the heat on at least 2 orders through this reseller now when in fact they should be getting their customers up and running.

ya, i bought it from a different forum. They were doing a group buy. I had a chance to take a look around. Let me just say, i'm glad i pulled it from ebay. The software is very easy to navigate. So far it seems to have good explanations of what each thing does.

I really like the price on these units. i didn't realize just how cheap these are. When i went back and looked at my bill, i was in disbelief. I got the standard unit and at $500 you really get to do a lot.

To sum it up, i got what i wanted. I don't have patience but HP did what they could and they didn't wait until monday to start getting back to work. It looks like the selling dealer was supposed to provide me with the key so it's not HPTuners fault. I am squared away now and thats all that matters.

I will have a write up to compare the two later on, i think. I still want to become a reseller of one of these big name tuners so i will use HP for a little bit nd make my decision at that point.
