: Winter Storage for the Truck???????????
little 11-01-2007, 07:59 AM Just wondering what one should do for winter storage? Fresh oil, and what else? I'll be parking my truck the end of november till the snows gone.Should I start it once a month , or let it sit?
Thanks for any input,
I let it sit for the most part. It gets fired up about once a month without issues.

Leave it with a full tank of fuel and add some fuel treatment to it also.
tbalt 11-01-2007, 08:52 PM Mine is a truck, I drive it during the winter. :D
RYDNHI4x4 11-01-2007, 09:02 PM Why wouldn't you drive it during the winter.

enahs 11-02-2007, 12:38 AM I store mine, too — don't want it to suffer. A Battery Minder (12112 or 12117) http://www.pacificbattery.com/batteryminder.html#anchor4 is cheap insurance to maintain the batteries. It is a computerized small charger that desulfates the batteries and just maintains the charge. In storage, there is still a constant drain on the batteries. If they are discharged and it is too cold, they'll freeze. Like he said, keep the mice out.
little 11-05-2007, 12:04 PM MN, salt and sand takes a toll on everything. I just bought another pick up that I'll drive this winter.I've had my D-max for a year now and have 5900 miles on it, it's paid for and if I take care of it , there should be collector plates on it in 20 years.
swanny1 11-18-2007, 08:15 PM i let mine sit also. I love my truck!!!!!!!! that why i drive my jeep gc in the winter.
builtupbowtie 11-18-2007, 08:54 PM Nothing wrong with saving a $40k truck from the harsh salt in the winter. I plan to do the same for the most part. I use the lifted half ton for winter fun.

ServiceOnSite 12-04-2007, 11:21 PM moth balls and moisture packs. a buddy of mine has on old dairy barn that houses a whole collection of mucle cars and trucks for the winter for a dollar a day. every year thats what he put in the cars and every year no problems. knock on wood.:D
ron54 12-05-2007, 10:55 AM Letting it sit is N/G for anything that holds oil as it can develop a leak through the seals, also, can develop flat spot on tires, causing unven wear & vibration. Additionally, rust in the exhaust from sitting.

If all this happens, then go start it every once and a while, and put it on jack stands, i also plan on mine sitting for the most part when it starts snowing, not just because of salt and sand(small town not alot of salting going on)but because of idiots who don't know how to drive that decide the wreck into people:banghead:
FarmBoy89 12-05-2007, 08:59 PM If your gunna store it and not drive it at all i would suggest some jack stands and get ur tires up off the ground, personally my truck is a REAL truck and i drive it every day. But my buddy has a MINT 93 cummins, and he uses fuel treatment, jack stands, a canvas tarp, and moth balls underneath and does just fine.

It's really just a matter of opinion and what you can or want to do with your truck. i have two trucks so why not use the older one for winter and keep the $40k one nice? Both are REAL trucks by the way.
