I have an 2006 LBZ and there are a million brands of aftermarket intake filter systems. Is any one out perform the rest or all they all good. I have always ran K&N because it was all that was out there that I knew about. Not opposed to spending $400 but no need if the cheaper would do the same job. I know a lot is personal preference but atleast it is from diesel guru's. I could flip a coin and be better off. Until they start making them out of wood this carpenter is lost. Matt

Matt,
Save your money, or spend it on other mods that will give you some real performance. Do a search on this forum and you will find that your
LBZ came equiped with and intake and filter that is as good any aftermarket intake.
Also look at the Kennedy or PPE web-sites and look at the mods you can do to your existing intake.

I've been the aftermarket intake route before and I'll never do it again. I noticed no gains on my 03 in hp or fuel mileage, turbo did sound allot better and intake looked good.

just based on looks IMO Volant and Banks seem to be good quality and both draw air from more than 1 area. Plus they also offer a super scoop that brings cool air from the fog light area. I do not own either but am in the same boat as you. Alot of people seem to say the stocker is about as good as it gets, but IMO the K&N style filters do flow better Im just not a fan of the oiling of the filter deal.
