: Fuel additive might be worth it!

ok, so i have recently been toying around with different fuel additives to see if there really is any noticeable MPG increase. I tried redline, chevron, and one other that I have stuck with because it seems to be working. I will post the name later because it seems to have slipped my mind. Its giving me about 2 more MPG on average based on the DIC, my engine is super quiet, throttle response is increased, and it also starts up super smooth. But one thing i have noticed, and please chime in because i think im starting to go crazy; i haven't had a regen now in 2 tanks. I have an edge juice with attitude and have the alarm set to notify me whenever it's in regen mode, it has not gone off. My idle RPM's are normal, and no aweful smell. It must just not be happening! But 2 tanks? 70% of my driving is in town so the possibility of it passively regening is highly unlikely.

Perhaps the hype about lower emissions is not marketing afterall!
Anyone else with similar experience?

It's by a company called PS (Power Service). It is called Diesel Fuel supplement with +Cetane Boost. They make two, one in a white bottle and one in a silver bottle. The one in the the white bottle is the same as the one in the silver except it has an extra additive that helps with gelling in low temperatures. I have been using the white one, and they were both the same price when i purchased them.

Did i just stumble upon an anomoly here? Or can anyone offer me an explanation as to what is going on here, not that im complaining or anything.

P.S. I picked it up a kragen haha

Power Service is a very popular fuel additive.

You can read about it in the sticky thread at the top of this forum.

i realize this, and reading the sticky is what prompted me to purchase some. My question was related to Regen.

my truck responds excellent to HOWES lubricater. i dump a whole bottle in before i fill the tank. i do it about every 6 weeks or so. i go through two tanks a week.

My 6.5 seems to like the Lucas. I guess I just feel safer adding somthing that actually seems to be more like oil. I can buy a gallon at a truck stop and it comes out cheap enough to use it all the time. I can't speak for milage but it sure runs quite and smoother when I have it in the fuel. Allmost makes you feel like your damaging somthing when you don't add a conditioner of your choice.

I've used stanadyne, power service, and howes lubricator.

I've seen the best mileage results with stanadyne and power service. Howes didn't seem to do anything (meaning the mileage dropped off again). I have some and when its gone I'll go back to using PS or Stanadyne.

I don't believe that Howe's adds any cetane improver in their additive. Both Stanadyne and Power Service add a cetane improver to their additive's, hence the better mileage! I believe that the cetane makes the fuel burn better and cleaner and more efficient. This may be the reason for the 2008's not having to regenerate that often.

I know many people who use Howe's lubricator, and they like it. They say it is good for winter use also, just read the side of the bottle to add the correct amount, as it is different for summer and winter.

I use Stanadyne and like it!

Just my 2 cents, but you may be better off adding a smaller amount to every tankful, if your tank is stock. I am not sure of the size of your tank, but the Howe's bottles are 64 oz, and one bottle is a lot for a stock tank, unless you have an auxiliary tank. Just something to think about.

It might be the fuel conditioning qualities of the additive. I run Stanadyne Peformance, and there is a significant difference in the lower exhaust fumes and a reduction in particulate matter - I don't have the soot build up in and around my tailpipe anymore.

I do remember that on the side of the Howes bottle it says if your fuel gels using Howes, they'll pay for the tow.

This summer I've used the PS silver bottle stuff and gotten good mileage with it. Didn't realize the Howes didn't boost cetane.
