: PPE Boost Valve = No Change in Boost = Me Confused...
clawson_matt 10-31-2007, 07:45 PM Hey guru's of the all mighty Duramax,
Tonite i finally got off work and in the mail was the PPE Boost Increase Valve that i order. I thought hey great, 5 minutes and more boost! After i put it on, i took it around the block for the mash on the pedal some and see what it does test. Honestly, i don't think it did anything. I have an Edge with attitude and i monitored my Boost Level and I didn't see it climb over 12 at 45 mph. For what i have been hearing it should be a descent bit higher. Could there be something wrong here?
Tomorrow at lunch i'll go out and run another screwdriver over them clamps and see if something is leaking. I figured i would clear my mind on here and ask if there was any reoccuring problems with it.

Hammer 4 10-31-2007, 08:36 PM At wot, you should see around 27-28 psi. Could it be the Edge is acting up..?
DrededSS 10-31-2007, 08:39 PM Edge is my only guess. I went from 22 to 27/28, but I'm reading from a mechanical boost gauge.
K-max05 10-31-2007, 08:40 PM my lb7 with a TST would make 32-34 psi a wot .
The Neens 10-31-2007, 09:03 PM I have an Edge with attitude and i monitored my Boost Level and I didn't see it climb over 12 at 45 mph.
Are you reading this on the Attitude monitor?
What power level were you in?
Full throttle only gave you 12 psi?
HeavyHD 10-31-2007, 09:44 PM I dont think the edge will read added boost like that. I thought since there is no boost gauge on the stock truck the attitude kinda electronically guess what it was at???
clawson_matt 10-31-2007, 11:05 PM yeah i was reading this on the attitude monitor. I don't think it is acting up, seems to be working good to me. As i said, tomorrow i'll tighten everything back down again really good then take it out for a spin and mash the pedal to the floor. If i get in the high 20's at WOT, then heck that is a victory.

Big Angry 10-31-2007, 11:23 PM I know on my LLY, anything that reads the manifold boost pressure won't read it accurately (what the computer thinks it's putting out) this will ONLY register on a mechancial boost guage. My boost stick "fools" the computer into reading less so that it puts out more boost but the computer thinks that it's in the normal range. I wouldn't be surprised if yours works somewhat similar.
pmeg1 11-01-2007, 12:34 AM Make sure the arrows point the correct direction, my lb7 went frim 20-23 w/ a stock tune and up to 31-32 w/ the HOT+2
dodavison 11-01-2007, 12:09 PM You wont see any change at 45 mph or normal driving, you get more boost with ppe towing uphill or when you really get on it WOT (wide open throttle). When the engine isnt working hard you don't need or wont get more boost.
briano 11-01-2007, 12:16 PM you need a real boost guage to read additions to boost. the attitide monitor won't read correctly since you've altered the signal now. It's just like the mpg thing when you add a programmer, it's off.
get an analog boost guage so you always know how much boost you are running. Too much and you can hurt the turbo before you know it. 32psi is about tops on the stocker.

clawson_matt 11-03-2007, 12:03 PM Hey guys,
I went through yesterday, cleaned the air filter, changed some other filters, and tightened down the ppe boost valve and it works! I guess it was several factors not letting me build all the pressure it should have been. At WOT i was hitting 28psi according to the Edge, when i ran out of room flying down the road. Thanks for the insights!

snowboard 11-10-2007, 11:17 AM I just want some info on this boost increase valve. Will it hurt my engine? Any other pro's and con's. Thanks for the info.

Won't hurt anything, it will add some slight lowerend to the power, and will Increase boost from approx. 22psi to approx 27-28 psi..for 30.00 it's a mod to have imho..:D

That is because thats as high as it'll read. you could be producing 40 LBS and not know it. I STRONGLY suggest getting a mechanical boost guage to see what is actually going on there. could just save you a nuked turbo...
