...to flush the Alli...
I am aware of Allison's policy of not requiring a flush, I'm doing it anyway.
The dealer mentioned something about flushing with "conditioners"???
Anyone know much about this?
Thanks!

One thing to remember is dealers have you do things that do not need to be done to make money.

just do the flush and fill. the alli even when beaten up pretty severly doesn't "dirty" things up inside like you have seen in other trucks. thanks in part to the spin on filter and the ability to change it so easy.

You live in CO.
If you're not going to do the trans service yourself, I'd reccomend taking it to Stewart&Stevinson. They're a truck repair shop for Detroit Diesel, Allison, Deutz, maybe more.
They have treated me very fairly, moreso than several dealers when I was stuck up there with a defective NSBU switch.
There's one in Pueblo, Commerce City, and maybe Grand Junction. Let them replace the fluid w/ Transynd and you won't have to worry about changing the fluid again for a very long time.

I do not like conditioners, they might attack the rubber seals. You might be sorry you did this.

Back when I drove my Z-71 I read on another forum of people doing the dealer flush and then not many miles later having lots of problems with their 4L60's and 80's. I just did the drain and refill at 50K and never had any problems with my 4L60. I know its not the Allison but I won't be flushing my Allison.

If a flush is bad, then what should I ask for if I want the fluid changed with Transyn (complete change, not just drain out the pan)?

You can flush if you like but keep the addatives out.

Thank you all...
I actually spoke with the guys at Stewart and Stevenson before I posted this message...they mentioned that the drain and refill is all that is required...
I have a friend that works at the dealership that will flush the tranny with Dexron VI......I'm providing the external filter, too. I read the DIY section of how to flush yourself...just dont have the time. I'm interested in getting the tranny filled with the new fluid, hence my reasoning for the "flush" vs. Allison's "drain" recommendation.
I'll ask to keep the additives out of the mix...I like this sort of feedback especially. Thank you.

Watch them do it. The stealer charged me for it and didn't do it. Take it to an allison dealer and get synthetic.
