Does anyone happen to know this number? I have a 2007.5 2500HD with the stock 16" wheels. No one can seem to give me a clear answer at the dealer.

Thanks.

Right...I'm looking for the load rating of the wheel itself. Not sure if I want to go to 265's for the greater load rating or just buy wheels and tires. I'm towing a 14.5K 5th wheel. That's once I pack it. Dry I'm just under the tire rating on the truck stock, but I'd like to bump it up a few hundred pounds, if not more.

The capacity should be stamped on the inside of the wheel somewhere. Maybe just pull one off and see.

You might just want to get some alcoa classics.I believe they have the highest load rating of any light truck or trailer wheel on the market at 3750 each. They're also highly polished and pretty good looking.

I have seen the load ratings stamped on the inward side of the rim. I only remember them having the psi max on them.

At the moment, I'm at about 3200# on the pin weight. I'm at 3000# on the left rear and 2900 on the right rear tire. I know I"m exceeding the GVWR, but I personally do not think that matters when the load is distributed centered like on a fifth wheel hitch. I'm looking to add a few more hundred pounds of capacity. I like Rickson's truck wheels....19.5". But the ride, and the fact that they don't have the "eliminator" style wheel at the moment is the biggest drawback. Not to mention the cost!!!

The question has been asked many times, the only clear answer I've never found is:

at least 3415 each as thats the tire rating of the 265's on some of the stock one ton trucks that use the same rim. There is no answer stamped on the 8 rims I own, except they were "made in Hungary", another answer I found while searching is they are very similar to some Alcoa's that are rated at 3500.

I've towed about 20k miles with 6800 lbs on the rear tires with stock PYO rims, bumps, potholes and emergency stops and never had a problem.

Watch out and make sure that the proper high pressure valve stems are put in when putting on 80 psi LT tires.

Has anyone ever experienced rim failure because of weight? I've never heard of it. I've seen tire failure though. I wouldn't think that the rims would be the weak link with that much weight. I would definitely go for more tire capacity. Maybe 285 E rated or something with a rating of about 3700lbs per tire.

I thought the rims on the one ton are just a bit wider, but I would think the narrower version would be stronger.... technically anyway. The only problem with the 285s is the lower pressure, and my "flashing DIC" HA!!!! I suppose I can get that pulled by the dealer?

Edit...Oh god....I didn't mean that last sentence like that! They can change the warning threshold for the tire pressure, right?

If it helps you any, the wheel (stamped) weight rating for my '98 2500HD 16.5x6.5 steel wheels is 3042lbs - same as the 245 tires. I'd imagine that thats about the running weight rating for any 6.5" steel wheel out there.
