Hey guys I have had the suspicion for a while my dif feeles like it is open so I did a test today and here are the results. I jacked the back end of the truck up in the air and blocked the front tires started the truck and put it into drive. I had some body try to keep the speed arround 10 to 15 miles an hour while I stoped 1 tire at a time from spinning with my foot. The other free tire would double in speed but nothing would happen and vice versa with either tire, yes it says g80 in my glove box. Does any body think I have a broken rear dif or am I doing something wrong?

It sure sounds like it... I would have taken the smokey burnout test to find out though! :D

I've always done the pull off on the side of the road with one tire on the dirt/grass and one on pavement then floor it. If the one on pavement spins you're still good.

Yep I took it into the steeler and they replaced the whole carrier assy.:eek: The governor shaft that is about as big as a pencil had 3 teeth missing and the little wavy side gear had about a dosen teeth missing. Every thing else looked good thank god for the magnet in the bottom but they still flushed everything out.

those things are junk....I ahd a 97 with 67k on never abuse and it went also.:mad:
