ok so i keep seeing threads about all the IP issues and what not.
well my question is...
Are a lift pump and an Injection pump the same thing?
if not what is the main purpose of each one? i think i know but its always nice to hear it again to be sure.

The answer to your question is NO, the lift pump and the Injection Pump are NOT the same thing. The lift pump is used to provide positive fuel pressure to the fuel supply system. It sits between the fuel tank and the rest of the system, usually on the chassis rail under your driver's seat. The injection pump's job is to supply atomized diesel fuel to each chamber at the appropriate time for the power stroke of the engine.

Rob :)

yep, basically the lift pump just pumps fuel from the tank to the IP, so the IP doesnt have to do all the work, then the IP injects into the cylinders.
