Hey guys how hard is it to change to change tranny fluid, and what are the steps its got to be cheaper to do it your self, I saw a drain bolt and a filter, It cant be that easy is it? Let me know what you guys are doing, the truck has 97,000 on it.:rolleyes:

Moved to maintenance.

I did the spin on filter, drained the tranny pan and pulled it down and changed the filter under the pan. I didn't go as far as purging the fluid like some do but I am upgrading to a suncoast soon and will go to the transynde then. Fairly easy fluid change though. Most allison dealers for big trucks have the filters on hand and they are cheaper to buy from than gm. I highly recommend using Allison filters. Good luck.

just drop what fluid is in the pan and change the spin on filter.replaced the lost fluid andyour done. super easy. after you do it drive the truck for a few days and check the fluid again and see if that made a diffrence. if it is still dirty change the fluid again in the pan. but most of the time doing it once is just fine.
