Howdy all,

I just took delivery of a 2008 Chevy LTZ 4x4 Duramax Crew Cab last week, after about 8 years of waffling. The odometer just rolled over 400 miles, I am loving it so far. The wife loves the color (the new Desert Brown), I love the power, and my daughter loves Hannah Montana on the Bose stereo.

I had my dealer put on a Frontier Front-End Replacement prior to delivery, I have a B&W Turnover Gooseneck Hitch, spray-in BL, Frontier steps and rear bumper, and R-K tool box coming next month. Should be fun!

Of course, the real world beckons, and after 3 days of driving the new toy, I had to fly to China for bidness. So, my first Dieselplace post, with the first photos of this All-American truck, are coming from a nice hotel in Shanghai. Go figure!

Thanks to all of y'all who have contributed to threads on this site, you really helped me to answer lots of pre-buy questions. I think the post-buy questions will start popping up pretty quickly, although I'm still starry-eyed. This is a little different diesel than the tractors and combines I grew up with! :D

PLETCHM -

Great looking truck. I have never considered myself a fan of brown, but I have to admit the Desert Brown looks really good. How has your milage been so far?

So far (about 400 mi, one fill-up and part of another tank) the 'puter says 16.8 MPG avg. And I have NOT been able to keep a light foot sometimes.

I wasn't a big fan of the front bumpers on the new HD's...but I wasn't too worried about it, seeing as a Frontier or Ranch Hand Front End was required equipment. :D The visual effect is less in person than the first photo shows, but is still aggressive. The black bumpers & steps are what finally sold me on the Desert Brown, by the way--I did like how the colors set each other off.

The Front End ensures that neither deer nor Datsun will cause more than spray-paint type damage. Having suffered deer (and cow) damage in the past, I am willing to trade sleekness for indestructibility.

Datsun? what's that? (you are showing your age). So that cow catcher bumper comes with a TRAIN HORN of course, right?
:D

Just kidding - you are going to LOVE your new rig.....
