Does anyone have any experience with this brand?
They look like the tool boxes are very well built. I know the quality of a RKI or Weatherguard but this looks to be heavier duty.
How do they attach?
Is it clear coated to prevent tarnish like the Weatherguard or RKI?
Thanks,
Mark
I've had the 5th wheel box for 5 years. It's been used and abused on construction as well as traveling. It's a great box. The lid works great and it has more room than most boxes. Haven't had any tarnishing. It's now in my 04 (had in my 93 work truck) where it'll stay. I wished they made a fuel/tool combo.

I've had my Highway Products 5th wheel box for almost a year and it has worked out great... It comes with (4) self taping screws/large washers (stainless) and a socket driver... Toolbox also has a light!... Highway Products uses a marine/aircraft grade stainless to prevent tarnish... See my Truck Pics below........Triffid
I think if you check you'll find it's a marine/aircraft grade aluminum. I also think it's as much as 50% thicker than the material used on most tool boxes. I'm assuming you looked at the web site, if not there's quite a bit of info there.

Highway Products tool boxes are built right here in Central Point, OR. Two of their welders/fabricators graduated High School with me. These Guys are good! There is alot of their custom-work floating around out here, and it is very impressive. They are also a great company to deal with. We send new trucks to them for full-blown custom flatbeds and utility boxes. They are expensive, but you do get what you pay for.

Thanks for the info guys.
I like everything except drilling the holes to mount it.
The RKI and Weatherguard have "J" type bolts that hold the box down.
It is important to me since I live on the Gulf coast to not drill new holes if I can avoid it.
Maybe I should not worry about it so much.

could you not use J-hooks on the highway box?

I have one of their fifth wheel boxes on the way and have a couple of questions. Are the self-tapping screws working for you or would you rather have bolts? Second, what do you find is the best way to wire in the light? I've always been a bit hesitant to have something wired directly to the battery (possible battery drain if a switch malfunctions or accessory shorts).
Thanks-

I used 1/4-20 bolts with fender washers on either end to keep mine down. It seemed like it would take more effort for someone to pry the box out that way.
The self tapping screws don't hold very much but unless you're worried about theft they don't have to. I wired the light into the running lights. My truck has wires for a fifth wheel directly below the box so I tied in there. I ran the wire down thru a drain hole in the corner of the bed.

I used the supplied self tapping screws and large flat washers... I also used silicone sealer under the washers and in the screw holes... I ran the wire through the larger drain slot and up the frame rail and hooked directly to the battery... I also added a fuse in the line under the hood... That way I don't have to go inside the truck to turn on the box lamp... Just have to remember to turn it off!... This has worked well for me for almost a year........Triffid
