Hey Everyone

Had to make a run to town today and my truck had sat for about 6 days without being started and I started it and let it warm up really good and then took it easy to the highway (about 1 mile) and let the tranny temp come up and got on the highway just fine. I was going to pass a trucker and when I jumped on it, it kicked down and then just revved to over the redline and did nothing. I got my foot out of it and then stepped on it to just maintain speed and it was revving at about 2900 in 5th gear. Can you slip a allison like that without going into full limp mode. Also I was running on level 3 on my edge as I do most of the time. If it was not the tranny what was it?

Thanks

Well, if your signature is correct you dont have a 6 speed ally. You were actually reving at 2900 in 4th gear. 2900rpm in 5th gear would make your speed around 98 mph. You limped your tranny outa 5th gear. Betcha if you pull your codes you get "5th Gear incorrect ratio". and the "700" code.

I did the same thing with my Edge on 3. Only thing you can do now is start running the Edge in level 2 until it starts limping you again... then move down to 1.... so on so on....

Better start saving for a built tranny.

Ya I have been squirreling away a little here and there for a Suncoast Stage IV and the 5 to 6 speed conversion. I guess I will be putting it in a little earlier that I hoped. Thanks for the help now I have to break it to my wife!!!!!

Did you get a CEL? If no codes you did not limp it. I'd start with the fuel filter. Dirty Fuel filters can cause the trans to behave strange.

Fuel filter was changed less that 100 miles ago( I change it every 5000 KM when I do my oil whether it needs it or not). I never got a CEL but the engine was just revving and I was almost losing speed. Was really weird. Would sitting for a longer than normal period have any affect?
