I am curioius to know if it matters during trade in time that if you swapped out the exhaust and removed the cat, would the dealer take the truck in trade. Are there any laws on this, since it came with a cat it should be traded back in with a cat. converter. Thanks.

99% of stealers would never even pick up on it.

exactly......Most of the used car managers are way too lazy to look underneath the truck from what I've seen.....they inspect the interior, and look for obvious problems......the chances they'll notice the converter is gone, let along know that a converter is supposed to be on the truck, and slim and none...and slim just left town.........

You need to read the fine print in the sales contract. There is usually a section discussing the trade-in. Depending on the wording, they may have the right to come back to you after delivery of the new truck.

Exactly. After they do take in the trade, they will do a point check on it. Even though it is a diesel it falls under emission codes in some states and if it is in that state they will do it to cover their butt. And if they find that it has failed they can come back on you for answers since you were the previous owner. Posession is 9/10th the law but there is still that 1/10 that can bite you.
