First how do i go about pulling codes from the ignition with the key?

Second, when there is not much load on the engine, say around 1100-1500 there seems to be a slight dead spot! Any ides why? Injectors, blocked egr etc.

What year is your truck, you may not be able to do it, also go to the FAQs and info how to do it if you are early 96 and older model truck, late 96 OBDII and newer requires tool to read codes, many places like auto zone will read for free, bring code here and we can tell you how to try and correct the problem.

Little more info please on dead spot what is happening exactly

I guess from your other post you have a 95, so you can read codes with a paperclip, spend some time in FAQs a LOT of your info is there, maybe efven print out some things like RPO codes and add to your signature line what your rig is so we don't have to keep asking for basic details of your trucks configuration.

Okay, say part throttle, around the 1100-1500 rpm range it almost bogs out. Feels like a dead spot(rpm stumbles), then when it get's past 1500 rpm it's fine.

Thanks for the tips!

Start with fuel filter put in a new one, check lift pump put a 0-15 psi gage on the filter drain fitting, (brass valve with chrome tee center of the engine front), put the gage on the drain line and open the valve 4-6 psi at idle is normal route hose/gage into cab thru window under wiper is how I do it (don't pinch it any will fake out reading) and go for a drive, on hard accel may drop to about 1-2 psi but should recover to 4 once at cruise speed.

You also could be having a problem with the APP, try in cruise control as APP isn't used there, any unusual smoke out the exhaust.
