Slamm 10-27-2007, 01:36 AM My truck filled the crankcase with diesel and never smoked once. This time it does not have diesel in the crankcase and smokes at startup and idle. It appears there may be two ways the injectors fail. One in which the engine smokes and no fuel in the oil and the other where it doesn't smoke so much and fuel is in the oil. I would say you need to call around and feel out a few dealers, because it is the injectors. Sam 2500HeavyDuty 10-27-2007, 01:45 AM mine did the same thing, my crankcase filled up with diesel and all the oil/diesel bled out my crank case breather tube staining my driveway. i never had any smoke, but it was the injectors. and yes they do fail 2 ways you are correct about that. i just noticed u have 196k miles, hurry up and get those fixed. the injectors have a 7yr/200kMile warranty, looks like you got lucky sparky1562 10-27-2007, 11:19 AM I never had any smoke, rough idle, or loss of power under normal driving.
