multiple problems not really sure which heading to post this under ? 05 hd slt build date 10/15/05 with sunroof and rear ent. sys. At less than 200 miles under moderate accelleration I get some skipping around 3rd or 4th gear , sometimes. ( now has 3000 miles )
Key word is sometimes. Put juice with attitude on it and get a pop once sometimes twice under minor , moderate , and hard accel. usually 3rd, 4th,and shifting to 5th gear.it will do it no matter how i configure the box and has even done it once on the 0 setting. Now it has started the mild skipping I felt without the box. Key word in all this sometimes. No consistincey to the malfunction.
Also read all the posts here took to dealer put the scan tool on it has all updates, saw them read mine , and download from GM and compare.
Significant rattle in right front wheel area , dealer says a Arm bushings need to be greased?
Significant whine in power steering box area , pump is full.
Rear brakes have locked, came closed to locking during a moderately hard braking procedure,( a guy moved over on me and the lane was running out hit the brakes fairly hard and moved over truck almost went around) cheked them again and they left black marks at 50 mph.
This is NOT my first duramax , I have an 02 lb7 hd cc swb LT 4x4 just like 05 that I put 110,000 miles on , never a problem with this truck w/ or without edge n/***. Truck never stayed turned off long.
Also have hd 3500 sl lwb4x4 ( probably lb7 never checked don't drive this one much) 40,000 miles never a problem.
What gives? You get, nice new cool features on the inside but you have to sacrifice good running and dependability, sounds like progress to me.

05 is not the truck nor engine the 02 was. From my experience, the 05 is a much worse truck. Wish I'd never done it. 05 goes when I return from my trip.

Sounds like you better put that one up for sale. I dont have any issues with my 2004.5 lly other than fuel economy. I also have the edge juice and has given me no greif. Better luck next time.

i heard the same thing from a freind, his 03 was better on mileage, and wished he had it back, motor seams louder with the edge he says also, had to the shop 3 times in 10k

not sure about the other issues you are having, but the Alison tranny is a learning tranny..it takes a few hundred shifts to adapt to the driver, then when the edge is installed is has to learn all over again, it even says that in the manual. that may account for the shifts you are feeling. the popping sound is probably turbo bark and I and many others have had that as well. I don't get it too often, but its noticable when it happens.

I would for sure take it back since you have such low mileage. remove the edge first.

just my $.02..

Some of you guys kill me....lets blame it all on the lly. That lb7 was soooooo much beter. There are lemons regardless of what make model etc. you buy. There was a poll here asking if people were satisfied with the lly....over 93% were. Why would you put a power mod on a truck that wasn't running properly stock? That just defies logic. There is a reflash, start there then work back to the juice once everything is ironed out. Gardner...if your 05 is gutlesss then there is something...have you had it check at all?

I love my 05 LLY, has more hp and torque than LB7 stock, easy access to injectors, creature comforts of the DIC, XM radio etc... 19.3 MPG @ 65 MPH 17.8 @ 75 MPH Highway and only 4000+ miles on it.

Let me in on the great things about the LB7 that has you guys disgusted with the LLY

First of all, I don't have an LLY truck yet, but I'm completely satisfied with my '02 LB7 with Edge. I run level 4 light and level 2 when pulling my trailer. It has certainly opened my eyes to the values of a diesel, both when pulling my 5th wheel trailer and when not. I get better than 19 mpg consistently when driving to work on the freeway, when I can stay out of it with a high of 22. No, I don't slow down that much, just keep the rpm's below 2000.

I'm beginning to get real nervous about the LLY because of the problems I've heard with them. I recently spoke with two owners of new trucks and they both complained of poor power and mileage when towing their trailers and much more smoke also while towing. I'm beginning to think that when I decide to upgrade to a 3500 dually, I may try to find the latest and lowest mileage one I can.

I pull a 25ft boat sometimes to differant locations and never seen smoke out the exhaust and have plenty of power at that,I just love taking off from a stop light and pulling away and passing people in other cars and trucks on the take off:ro) Over the summer I pulled some race cars to buddscreak maryland with my buddys following me after getting there they were saying to man you were pulling that car like there was nothing behind you and all I did was smile.
