My dad just called. He cant get online so he asked me to do so for him.

So here i am. Was on his way home from work. Trans. locked in 4th gear. And wont shift. SO he pulled the cods, got some to go away and it will shift know. But he can not get the p0700 code to erase.

What is the problem here?
And how do we fix it.

I hear there is a letter for the 04-05 trucks about this.

and i hear its could be the FICM and the TCM?

the p0700 is a TCM code. what other codes did he get?

P0700 is the TCM telling the PCM that it has codes. Not all readers can see the TCM codes.

Odds are that he limped it. What programer/box is he using?

Turn the truck off then restart it and he should get all the gears back. SES light will stay on for a day or 2.

SCIII or an ATS tranny will fix'em up.

And tell him we said "Welcome to the "I limped it" club"

i think he is talking about the truck in the sig, which has an edge, which i dont think can pull TCM codes...correct me if i am wrong.

Thanks for the help I do not kow about the other codes. Just that code cuase it wont go away. I dont see how he limped it. I mean its only a 80hp tune total and the trans has had plenty of time to adjust. We have never ran anything over that power tune reallt Just the 85 hp. tune.

Yes, it is the truck in the sig. Now from what i have read. I hear that EDGE could be the one causing the problems. We also had a "shift rang inhibited". Thats about all i can give you guys, and we need it to get fixed. But my dad hates the dealer and dosnt want to take it to them. What do we have to do?

it sounds like either the edge threw some codes (ours did the same before a reflash) or he did limp it. some trannies hold up better than others so 85hp could be enough to limp it. how many miles on the truck? how many miles with the 85hp tune? and do you tow on the 85hp tune?

Miles i think were just around 55,000 or more. Not that many.

I dont know how many miles. But we had the edge on level 3 for about a year, and we just recantly got the pred. SO we been running level 1 one edge and level 1 on pred. (80h.p.) total.

We tow witht he edge in tow mode and the prd. on stock. So no we do NOT tow with the 80-85 tune.

An 85 tune will limp a tranny over time. The edges "safety" features just extend that time. Odds are that when torn down the clutches will have some black on them.
Don't take it to the dealer; 1) you want to play, you should pay 2) they will just put in stock parts and it will do it again. SunCoast or ATS tranny upgrades are the way to go.

i talked to my dad this mornning. We going to bump it down to a 60 hp tune. ANd just be esayon it. Also the bigger tires are going on tommorw which probley wont help:). BUt i told him "its time to start putting money away for a BUILT TRANS." hahaha. we knew it was coming, just didnt know when. But thanks for your help.

well my dad picked me up today. We are driving his truck with everything is on stock. We still have the code and CEL.

We want to try disconnect the battery and see if it rest's things. Will this work or not?

Also, if this does not go away what can we do to get it to delete or erase its self?what do we have to fix? what could be doing this?

When we got in the truck tonight after it sitting for 2 hours or so. Went into drive but didnt do, said "shift rang inhibited" so we went to neutral and back to drive and that works. Now from what i read this could be caused by the EDGE?

our truck did pretty much the same thing as yours, and it was the edge. it put it in limp mode, threw codes at random, and the range shift inhibited message. can your edge scan/clear codes? if not an autoparts store should be able to for you. pull the edge out and see if the CEL is still on and the RSI message. i bet it goes away...edge reflashed our box and it works fine now.

We have the pred. 2.02 to read and clear codes. It will clear everything but the p0700 code. Just told my dad what you said and from what i read sounds like EDGE is the problem. So in the mornning befor we go and get the tires put on, we are going to pull the edge and see if that does it.

well pulled the edge, unpluged the batterys for about 20 min. let everything rest. Everything went away and it was great. Installed a tune with the Pred. drove great just had to have the trans learn cool what ever rite?

Got to the tire shop thay said they couldnt do it tell monday so we were like okay went to leav and same problems. stayed in one gear down the street. NOw we have this code that is NC101?

Dont know what that is got p0700.

So great deleted those. And installed stock tune.

Well now its doing it in stock form with the edge removed and the ecm set to stock nothing on it. So that it my dad says its going to the dealer.

Only thing i can think of is the tcm or the sensor down on the tranny. SO well see what happens.

This sucks and were both pissed off like you wouldnt beleave. We jsut want to get this thig to the point were we dont have to keep messing with it, and its reliable.!
