I Am Curious If Anyone Knows Where The Wire Is Routed To Pick Up The Outside Temperature For The Display On The Osrv Mirror That Has Temp And Compass. Today I Installed My Winter Cover And As I Was Driving To Work This Afternoon, Noticed The Outside Temp On The Mirror Going Up. By The Time I Got To Work, It Was Reading 70 Degrees. In Boston. On Dec. 3rd. It definitely wasn't 70 Outside. Could The Pick-up For This Thermometer Be In The Engine Compartment Somewhere? This Thermometer Has Never Been Exactly Right On The Money, But Until Today I Had Never Seen It Off By 30-35 Degrees. Anybody?

Not 100% positive, but I believe it is located right behind the grill near the center. If you look in this area you should see it.

It says in the manual that the thermometer will not function right with the winter cover on.

Thanks For The Answers. I Could Have Read The Manual First I Suppose, But I Bet It Was Faster This Way.

Hey Blue Heron,
I live right outside of Boston. Kind of surprised you have the winter cover on. From the different things I've read on this site, folks don't really put them on until it gets much colder out. Of course, everyone has an opinion. Have you found it has improved things since putting it on? Thanks.

It right behind the grill infont of the radiator and stuff, almost looks like a little plug with a cap on it IIRC

Most guys take it out of its position and relocate it next to the driver's headlight assembly. It's fairly easy to do and you can leave it there year round.

Dura Den:
I put the cover on yesterday (Friday) just to make sure there were no issues. I didn't want to be struggling with it in 10 degree weather with the snow flying all around. Anyway, I decided, what the hell, I'll leave it on today and see what happens. As it turned out, the tranny temp and engine temp gauges remained in the normal range. The outside thermometer was the only problem. Today, I left it on and as I headed into town, the temp began to rise again, so I stopped and removed the cover and the temp came back down to where it should be. Now I'll leave it off 'til needed. Thanks everybody for your input.
