I use Black Stone Laboratories. All the information you will need is on their web site. They return an extreamly detailed report back very quickly.

BlackStone is common. AV lubes, a sponsor on here. There is also Oil Analyzers, an AMOSIL company. Looks like most cost about the same, somewhere between 15-25 bucks depending on whether postage is paid or not.

I've used Blackstone Laboratories (www.blackstone-labs.com (http://www.blackstone-labs.com)) to do automatic transmission oil analysis when my Allison 6 speed indicated it overheated and also had them do engine oil on my diesel sailboat engine. Costs $22.50 for basic test and they will send you kit with a Post Office mailer to get the sample to them.

I use AV Lubes. Very happy with the reports I get plus they are a sponsor here. They also answer my E-mailed questions quickly. I think the last kit I ordered was 17.00 plus shipping.

Your friendly neighborhood Caterpillar dealer is $10 IIRC, postage paid.

Yes, unless you want TBN .. per George's note with the TBN kit (http://www.avlube.com/fuankit.html), with the advent of ULSD TBN shouldn't be a concern .. also assumes you are using a good quality HDEO (i.e. DELO, Rotella, Delvac, etc) .. However, if you plan to extend your OCI past 7-10Kmi, then you may want to check TBN ... Up until recently I was buying the TBN kits and even before the ULSD, the lowest TBN I've seen on a 7.5kmi OCI is 6.5 and most were greater than 10.

Oil Analyzers at www.oaitesting.com .
BTW- the TBN is the biggest reason you do an oil analysis. Unless your changing your oil every 3-5K then you need to know what the TBN is. If your not getting it then switch to a company that provides it.
