my turbo has alot of shaft movement.
is this common?my wastgate is also bad
is this also a common problem?just bought it and
am very green.94 6.5. 171,000 my mechanic says i need turbo and wastgate.
so i am trying to find a used one.
any help would be great.

Define a lot of movement, axial or radial play how much movement, what makes you say WG is bad, it could be the solenoid, what makes the mechanic say it's bad hold off on purchasing a new one just yet, feed us some more info 1st.

Turbo rubuild kits for the GM-4 are $75. The GM-4 can develop internal wg binding and hang open but it's more likely the vac or solenoid are bad.

kit only includes bushings basicly, better before the turbo craters, if the shaft, either wheel or housings are damaged he won't be able to fix it with just a kit.
