Ok, I'm frustrated and I want to take a pool. Who all here has HIDs in their trucks, and do not have a relay installed for them? What are these relays suppose to fix in regards to the HIDs? Is it just to help them last longer? I'm getting frustrated with trying to run the relays because when I hooked them up they wouldn't work and while I fiddling with them I accidentally arc'd one of the ground wires on my brush guard and made a nice mark that will alway remind me of what a pain it was trying to hook them up. So if there are a lot of people on here who run the HIDs without relays and don't mind the radio not getting as many stations I would like to know how many of y'all there are.

I don't have a relay in mine and haven't had any problems. I run sirrius so I don't even listen to the regular radio stations.

They are also ILLEGAL to install in your factory housings. They require different optics to function properly. Done properly (with new optics) they are better in most driving conditions excluding rain and fog. Done from SleazeBay, they are usually more dangerous and annoying than useful. Headlights are for seeing..... not for looks. If you want to see everything with a purple tint, wear blue filtered sunglasses. NOBODY else wants to look into the GLARE of your ILLEGAL headlights. If you want HID's, drive a BMW, AUDI etc that have factory HID's with proper optics.
This is a great site for diesel related knowledge, but if you want to know about lighting, go to HIDplanet or one of the other lighting forums. Check out DanielSternLighting.com for the technical reasons why you should not waste money on illegal rebased HID's.

woah boondokr...you can learn about lighting here as well...this is a great site for diesel related knowledge, as well as lighting, stereo, there are many different sections on the forums for a reason. And my HID are from a seller on ebay who also has a physical store based out of Texas...and my HID are in the factory housing...they work way better than stock and why would we want to drive an audi with HID when we can drive something even faster with HID...i dono, personally i have HID in factory housings and they work very well and i dont get flashed very often...aim them correctly and you will be fine...and my lights are better in fog and rain than my stock ones were...the oppinions im stating are from personal use of HIDs...sorry you have obviously had bad experiences...

oh and my HID's have relay...the relay is to take power from the battery instead of the factory wiring because of the power they take in the first couple seconds of startup...basically relay is there to take some strain off the factory light wiring.
