Hi,

I'm converting a 2wd to a 4wd, but seem to have a hard time finding out a couple of specs:

1. What is the torque for the big nut on the output shaft?

2. What measurements need to be taken to select the correct shim?

Allison people seem to not have the answers and claim that GM people should, but the GM people haven't been able to find those answers yet either :-(

TIA,
Vadim.

LB7 tranny, 2002.
LB7 engine out of the same vehicle. The vehicle was a Silverado of an unknown body style.
The nut is the one and only nut on the output shaft.

when I built my trans, I started with a 2 wheel drive unit. Per Mike L.'s recommendation, I switched the complete output shaft and extension housings from my 4wd to the 2wd transmission. That way, there are no shims to deal with, as they are located in the extension housing.

In this case, the parts I'm putting in are brand new (the output shaft, the housing, bearings, nut, spacer, shims), so I'm trying to follow the proper procedure...
