While driving to work early this morning my truck started cutting our or surging at highway speeds. The truck wasn't cutting out totally like a PDM failure but it felt more like it was running out of fuel, however the tank is nearly full. Soon my check engine light came on. Truck feels low on power and my boost maxs out at 4 or 5 psi. Too dark to tell if I was making smoke. Driving in town truck feels pretty normal, idles OK etc, just down on power. When I got to work I pulled the code reader out and read one code - P0251 "Injector Pump A Rotor/Cam Malfunction." I was expecting a boost/turbo code but this looks like a pump problem. Does this mean the pump is on it's way out or do we have enough info yet? This pump was replaced by the PO under warranty and it has about 60,000 miles on it. Not many good diesel shops in my town so I hope to get as much info as I can before I take it in. Thanks in advance.

Go to the diagnostic check list below in my signature, copy/paste into a new thread and lets run through item by item so we aren't guessing at the problem,
Sig also says SS Diesel FSD cooler, on intake ???, is gnd connected on IP still ???
Were you low on fuel? Mine just did the same thing and I ran out of fuel. Luckily I rolled into a gas station w/ no pushing. It could also appear if your IP is being starved (clogged fuel filter or filter sock).
Like Turbine said fill out the diag checklist and that will lead you the the prob. Hopefully if you are lucky it wont be the IP.
Thanks
I'll go through the check list and answer each. There is a ground running from the intake mounted heatsink to the IP pump. As far as the IP warranty yes that is past, but when I first got the truck I ran the vin # and I have that printout somewhere. I am the second owner, and if I recall correctly the original owner had the IP changed twice under warranty. The last time was at 170,000 km. I purchased the truck in 05 with 214k on it and it now has 265,000 km on it. I'm still at work so I will check for smoke tonight on my drive home and I'll be able to see if it is still down on power and boost. Aside from that I did purchase diesel on Sunday from a small gas station that I have never dealt with before. I usually only purchase fuel from one or two truck stops in my area but I was running low (teenage son doesn't understand what the fuel gauge is for). Would bad diesel set this type of code?
I'll go through the questions tonight and start a new thread with them as you suggested. Thanks.
