The local dealer wants $150 to check my injectors

What do I need to check them myself? Will a normal scan tool from autozone tell me what I need to know?

Thanks!

The only real good way if you dont have symptoms is do to a return test which is used by using a graduated cylinder one at a time, I'm not exactly sure on the process. Scanners will only tell balance rates which dont always give it away, the just kinda help show you if there going. They also command the high pressure pump to 160mpa and I believe it has to get above 145mpa. It wont happen if the injectors have a high return to the tank.

A TechII will read balance rates, I believe a Predator will read them also.

Your local dealer sucks...they should check your injectors under warranty if you have under 100,000 miles...also there is no scan tool that will tell you that your injectors are bad...you have to tear the engine apart.

Warranty won't pay for a "check".

If your balance rates are out of whack and the pump won't reach scanner commanded pressure,it is a good bet the injectors are bypassing. Return rate check conferms it.
