Is there a benefit to using a block off plate as apposed to just disconnecting the EGR?

My LLY is a Federal emissions truck and doesn't set off my "Check engine" light.
I have had my EGR disconnected for several thousand miles with no trouble so far.

You will get a code if you disconnect the EGR.. You will also have to have one of FINGERS bypass stix to go with the EGR plates.

I have a 2004.5 lly and i have had my egr unplugged for 500 miles or so and no codes as of yet, So is there an advantege with the plate? Or run it till i get a code.

That was through me. They were being sold at cost and that cost was low for a number of reasons. I am not interested in doing it any more for free nor was the person actually making the plates.

I haven't read anything about the EGR, is there a thread about blocking it off and what the benefits are by blocking it off? And what else is needed other then the plate?

you need to do a search on the egr topic i think max power started one a couple of months ago.you will need a finger stick if you are going to run a blocker plate

i am trying the finger stick in my personal truck before i put it in my customer trucks. if it works i will be ordering a lot more, i have many customers with lly trucks throwing egr codes.

The original will usually stick to one of the flanges when you seperate them. Put another gasket on the other side of the plate. You will have to slot the hole like the plate ot get it in.

To answer an earlier question about a gasket--this may be overkill, but the original gasket is a metal type gasket, so I assume extreme heat here. I bought a large sheet of gasket material from Auto Zone, they were the only store out of 4 close to me that had "high heat" gasket material it cost 13 bucks and I could make 50 EGR gaskets from this one sheet--used the blocker plate as an exact template for the gasket--it cuts easier than I thought with tin snips, it is the metal type material and is a little thicker than the factory gasket. The factory one stayed on toward the front of the engine and I slipped my homemade gasket in behind the blocker plate--so far so good! If anyone is interested and can't find this stuff, I could prob. cut a piece off large enough for you to cut your own gasket and send it to you in an envelop--I am sure I could eat the postage stamp! LOL!

Intake boost on one side, Exhaust pressure on the other. Usually a little more exhaust than boost.

Hmmm,

I went to install mine today and got nervous. Before I start unscrewing stuff does anyone have a picture or something showing exactly were this guy goes. I try not to make too many assumptions with my house... oops I mean truck.

I loosened the two bolts, pried the back part back just enough to slip in. Went on and gasket didn't move. No leaks, I then went to fingerstick thread and installed the stick using his pics and again went flawlessly, I had not been using tube from afe stage II kit, but with this mod i put it back on boy does this truck haul buns. The hunting or surge at low rpm has siezed to exhist now and i havent had my truck flashed yet. I have 48000 miles as of today.

thanks hot rent, i already did my fingers stick, it went it flawlessly and killed the light i was getting from using the 5" straight pipe. Ill put the plate in when it gets here, should be another day or so. Like OCCTiger said, if anyones got pics of the install they can only help. Fingers pics on how to install the stick were exactly what I needed, couldnt have installed it without them.

I received my plates this week for my 05 3500 and 05 2500 and as I look at where these go, how do you get back there with a wrench to get the leverage needed to loosen the bolts? there's not enough room for my air rachet or a reg. ratchet... any insite on how to get back there would be appreciated.

I got in there with a reg. craftsman 3/8 drive and short socket.

i found my issue, i was lacking the choice few words :) . after that, while the fit is tight with a 3/8 rachet, the plate went in very smooth..

Are there any more left? Also, is there a picture where I could see it?

Someone has got to have pics of this install, or at least a pic of where it goes, after its been installed. I thought that plastic jobby we unplugged was the egr. I assume the plate goes to the right of that if you were looking at it while standing in front of the truck, but where? :confused:

plate went in in under half an hour, couldnt have done without fingers's help, we all, especially those of us in California, owe him one, a big one. I took me a second to get the bolts to break, they were tight. I tried some choice words and they still wouldnt come loose. I almost emailed you guys to ask what words you used.
