I read in another forum about a guy who's side mirror got knocked off his truck and left an oil stain on the door? The dealer told him that the turn signal in the mirror uses some kind of oil to make it blink? I thought they were LED's. Blinker fluid? :wtf1:

Yup, they stock it right next to the hole stretchers and muffler valves.

Now that I would believe. The dealer tells him he has to repaint his truck they have no solution to the oil stain. I would think bug and tar remover would be a good start. Maybe just plain 'ol gas.

Yeah Tom ... along with carburetor belts, muffler bearings and metric crescent wrenches.

try wd-40 on the paint. That stuff works for everything.

The fluid is from the auto darkening feature of the mirrior assuming he has the option. The stuff is nasty and will hurt the paint.

It is for the darkening feature. Same thing happened to dad's half ton. No it won't just rub off of the paint. You have to be sure to wash it off immediately. Dad didn't and it stained his molding badly but we were luckily able to get it off the paint with clay.

There is bulletin from gm about that as well warning about the effects of the fluid on paint.

Are they metric or SAE? We have people bring in equipment to be serviced all the time; they want it done under warranty when it's pretty easy to see they've used an SAE adjustable wrench on metric fasteners .

Do you have a convertible? I've been looking for a roof rack for mine for years...

Oh well, my camshaft brakes have been on the way out for a while now, I just can't find replacements anywhere. I also think my air filter might be bad, I've seen signs that it's letting air through and into my engine. I dunno about you guys, but I've seen some pretty bad things happen when air gets into an engine... you can actually have EXPLOSIONS inside your engine, it can cause your pistons to recipricate up and down thousands of times per minute, especially if your spark plugs are leaking and letting sparks get into the cylinders.

Did you make sure you didn't put the rights on the left and the lefts on the right? That can be especially bad if the teeth in your gears are getting dull, or if your torque converter is running low on torque.
