: 400,000 miles......
Unit453 10-21-2007, 12:05 AM Coming back from a wedding tonight in Albany, about 4 hours from home, and I stopped to get some fuel. I pulled and noticed a dually with a rather large trailer. 03 or 04 LB7. (I assume it wasn an LB7 but not 100% positive) (I suppose it coulda been an early 04 LLY as well) I was pumping and was eyeballin his truck. I noticed an exhaust pipe coming from the drivers side....Hmm....We made casual conversation. (Couldnt help it) He explained how he just rolled 400k miles. Guy delivers cars. He said he was outta Florida. Nice guy. Running a triple guage pod, Edge and a Magnaflow system.
If I didnt see it with my own eyes, I woulda never believed it.
Origional tranny and on the 2nd set of injectors.
Feast your eyes fellas.
66flh 10-21-2007, 12:06 AM Why on the drivers side?Thats a lot of miles!!!!
Jasondt2001 10-21-2007, 12:07 AM Son of a gun!!!!!!! That's GREAT news!!!!
Look at the size of that trailer, I bet those are by no means an easy 400k.
I'm so glad i bought my truck :D
Nice post Nick, thanks for sharing!
pa32rt 10-21-2007, 12:08 AM Why on the drivers side?Thats a lot of miles!!!!
Probably so he could watch it during pulling. If something was going wrong, he would see the smoke! That's my guess.
Unit453 10-21-2007, 12:09 AM He was hauling Bentleys.

Exactly, I am at 179K+ and I plan on getting 400K out of mine.
Running 2 stroke oil in the fuel every other fill up!
Been doing it for a long time, and have 147K+ on these injectors so that is the secret for ME.....
Now let the flaming begin!
And the comment about the exhaust on the drivers side so he can see smoke when something goes wrong, it sounds as if he does not have things go wrong with him, and his is a fine running truck to log 400K hauling trailers!
nmband13 10-21-2007, 04:08 PM Insane! I bet its the best thing for that trans, running highway all the time, no shifting, well almost no shifting. Lock it in gear and hammer down! :D

Sorry if I hijack but what is the benefit from running 2 stroke oil in the fuel everyother fill? First time i've heard of this.
Tolliwacker 10-21-2007, 04:12 PM Go to the additives section, there is all the reading you can have!

I saw this guy near Utica.
Nathan Muthler 10-22-2007, 03:58 PM Ive got a friend that has over 700000 on his. He had a burnt #7 piston at around 500000 and put in a motor with over 200000 on it. So its got over 400000 on it now also. I think the truck is falling apart around him. He doesnt take it very easy on it. He tows sheds around for a living.

any pics of the odometer and truck?
Nathan Muthler 10-22-2007, 06:56 PM Ive got them,I will have to try and send them from a buddies computer. Im on Uncle Sams computer right now,and he wont let me send pictures out.I had one from a while back on the high miles contest when it had 345000 miles on it,Ill try and find it too. Ill try and get the pics of his trucks odometer too. That might be easier said than done with him. I ran into a guy that has an 01 super duty 550 I think, he has 463000 miles on his. He said he had to replace the turbo and some glow plug sensor(?) on it and it has been a good truck. He also hauls sheds for a living. I know some guys on here are from Middleburg Pa and might know him also. I believe he said his name was Leland Beiler.
Unit453 10-24-2007, 12:53 AM I hope that guy signs up here to claim the truck that I put online for him...
wsmithduramax 10-24-2007, 01:17 AM i can't beleive that... im even more excited for the life exspectancy of my pickup with only 94K on it.. but i guess with the right maintence schedule you wouldn't have to worry about anything.. i hope im that luck .....
MUDN72 10-24-2007, 07:59 PM Did you by any chance get to see the hour meter on this truck. It would be interesting to see the average MPH he carried over 400K. I bet it would be in the 50+ range.
CrewCabMax 10-24-2007, 08:50 PM I think maybe the pipe comming out the driver side would be the other half of his dual's. Said he had a Magnaflow system. Just a guess...

Hey Nick, did that truck have a damaged rear fender on the drivers side???? If so, I think saw it out here a few months ago if that's possible. WAAAY long trailer just like that. He was at the Flying J truck stop near here on 80/94/Ripley. I was going to stop and talk to him, but I went in to piss and he was already pulling out when I came back outside.

BIGBEN2004 01-27-2008, 09:32 AM A farmer near where I live runs all case magnum tractors. He is one of the largest dairy operations on the East coast. They run the tractors up and down the road all day and parts of the nights. Some tractors on the farm are running more than 20,000 Hrs. with minimal repairs and no overhauls. Cummins makes some good engines, that is what Case runs in the Magnums. That is allot of hours. When I first started working in the Excavating business I worked for a company that put me in a Cat 963 loader that was a 1983 model loader. The hour gage showed 24,000 Hrs on it but the mechanic said they had already replaced the gage 3 other times and they bought it used so it is hard to say how many hours was on it for sure but it had to be allot. I know when I worked their they replaced the engine once and had done it once before that so all those hours where not on the original engine.

ok this might not be as impressive but we have a 1972 4020 w/ 17,000 hours on it w/ one engine overhaul at 15,000 hours

this is really off topic, but there was an auction a month or two ago here in northwest ohio (spencerville, so really west central oh) that had a 4020 with like 3400-400 hours on it, not restored that went for $31,000. a little ridiculous if you ask me.
Durallymax 01-27-2008, 10:36 AM My buddies mixer tractor, John Deere 4430 has over 30,000 hours on it, its on its second motor with an overhaul on the second motor all ready.
We have a '91 7110 magnum, '96 8910 magnum, '97 8940, '99 8940, '00 MX240, '02 MX240, and an '04 MX255.
The older magnums had to be one of the best tractors ever.
The new MXs have an extremely nice cab, but are kinda gutless.
One of ours is equipped with the deluxe cab which features power mirrors, heated seat, nice 4 speaker radio, auto climate control and an active seat that communicates 500 times a second to determine where to position itself so you feel nothing.
Both the Mx 240s are pack tractors.
The '02 has 80hp over injectors in it and that really woke it up. Stock it made 204hp to the PTO. Then we added the MX270 computer and it made 240hp. Then we added the injectors and it maxxed out a 300hp dyno at 1800rpm. The RPMs were bumped up to 2400 so who knows how much power it actually makes.
Our MX255 has the MX285 computer and the TS performance chip on it. We found a bigger dyno and it made 337hp. However weve found we cant use all that power when its on the chopper cause we blew up two of them this year.
By blown up I mean we snapped the cutter head which means the chopper is junk.
The 8940s are both cranked uptoo. The older one is cranked to just over 300hp but its gone through a few turbos so we had to turn it down. The newer one is at 270.
All of them are striatpiped so they sound really nice.
Were in the process of trading all the magnums in for 4 MX275s and 2 MX305s
THose will probably recieve the TS chip as well.
Were trading because a local dealer has a great promotion going.
The nice thing is that this promotion includes luxury cabs which have carpet and leather, it also includes a suspended front axle and the 19th gear.
Another local dealer has found out how to take the rev limiter off of the 19th gear so you can do 30mph.
Suld be nice.
Durallymax 01-27-2008, 10:37 AM Also on te older magnums, Case IH was notorious for sending every tractor out strong,
By strong I mean well over the rated hp level.
My buddies 7140 is supposed to be at 220hp but its at 310hp from the factory.
BIGBEN2004 01-27-2008, 07:51 PM Also on te older magnums, Case IH was notorious for sending every tractor out strong,

My buddies 7140 is supposed to be at 220hp but its at 310hp from the factory.
I agree, they did come out strong and way over rated horsepower. This made them look good when compared to a competitors equal comparison. The dealer told us that new regulations require the new tractors to be either just at the advertised Hp or maybe a smige over and by that I mean maybe 10 Hp but no more. When we bought our MX200 it was Dynoed before it left the dealer and it was at 198 Hp so I dont know who turned it up, maybe the Dealer ship...... it was only rated at 165 Hp I think. I dont think it is gutless it pulls great I think. They are a hard tractor to beat, quite, and roomy cab I feel great after 10 hours in the cab disking.
Durallymax 01-27-2008, 07:54 PM I damn near have an orgasm over the MX cabs. well not quite but theyre nice,
The dealer gets a 10,000 fine for altering performance without clearence from CNH. Legally if they get clearence and you pay a fee they can add a bigger computer. In your case most likely a 220.
Our 255 was a little strong for some reason too.
team_arctic 01-27-2008, 08:19 PM i have spent quite a bit of time in a mx135 with the little 5.9 cumming and it has some git up and go to it. it will pull a 24 foot disc better than a 2470 will its a little light in the tires and tends to hop a little but some fluid in the tires next spring will fix that, the only downside to the smaller mx is their axle size, once you get to the mx 170 and above it really takes a step up in the chassi and drive train, we just bought a 6175 white with a 8.2 ( i think) cummings and that has some power! im sure its doing way more than 175 i cant wait to try it out on the plows in the spring.
Durallymax 01-27-2008, 09:58 PM The whites have the 8.3 Cummins in them
Sadly we have an 8610 white and an agco DT200. Virtually the same exact tractor both with the 8.3 and of course both cranked up.
We really wanted to get rid of them but the white is perfectly balanced and handles our 6350gallon tanker like no other tractor so we just keep it. It was cheap horsepower too, 50k for a 180(now 240)hp tractor with 800hrs on it.
Only engine related issues are two wastegates and one turbo. The wastegates are common maintenece. They go out before 2000hrs on every HX40W.
The computer systems suck though. Some how the tractor mysteriously lost 7th and 8th gear reverse

c'mon....how fast do you really need to go in reverse????:D
Durallymax 01-28-2008, 03:46 PM I like doing 24mph in reverse with our fendt. hehe.
Its never too fast. Okay so there is a time an a place, I found out trailer brakes dont work too good in reverse going down a hill at 12mph. Smashed the flatbed(loaded with 24,000lbs of concrete blocks) right into some concrete, bent the whol thing to hell. It ruined about the back 10ft. It was time for a new one anyway.
But the good ol 02 Max survived the crash.
i envy guys like that who get to drive across such a great country.. and in a kick ass truck as well
