: Fumoto Valve
hollister bob 10-20-2007, 04:52 PM Just got a Fumoto Valve yesturday, as per the instructions, lift lever, turn 90o. Lever goes up, but won't turn. Valve is NOT installed yet, but, I can't see where that makes any difference.. Tried ALL there e-mail addresses, but they don't accept???:confused::confused:
rtquig 10-20-2007, 06:21 PM Doesn't the lever push up and slide to the back?
hollister bob 10-20-2007, 07:22 PM Yes, its' suppose to, but ALL I can get this one to do is push-up, but it won't slide like it says it should!!!:confused::confused: Thanks for the reply:driver:
Cleve 10-20-2007, 07:26 PM If you are trying to open or close the valve while holding it, it might just be a little too tight.
I did my first oil change last week with my valve and had no problem getting it to open or close. It is a little tight but was no real trouble. Works like any quarter turn valve after lifting the lever.
Sure was nice not having to stuff rags on the pan or splash oil everywhere. Just a little slower than usual.
BullydogPowered 10-20-2007, 07:31 PM the first time i tried when i got mine it was stuck tighter than hell....keep trying youll get it....
it may be easier once installed but i did get mine to break loose in my hands
RI Chevy Silveradoman 10-21-2007, 10:55 AM When they are brand new, they are a little tight, which is the way you want it. Hold it tight, and turn to the left with pressure, it will move smoothly. They are a ballcxck type valve. Don't forget to use the washer that comes with it. It is colored, I think green. Good luck.

Exactly right. When they are brand new, they are tough to get open. Once the ball gets lubricated with oil, it substantially easier to open.
Go ahead and put it on your truck hollisterbob....it's working as it should.
hollister bob 10-21-2007, 01:49 PM Thanks guys for ALL the responses, I just received a e-mail & phone call from THE owner of the company I bought it from (ON SUNDAY) with the same answers you all gave me (SERVICE ON SUNDAY???)(WOW) thanks again for the feed-back... Bob-:driver:

Now that is above and beyond the call of duty!!! :)
hollister bob 10-23-2007, 08:33 PM IT WORKS!!! It seems a lot of the time, because of sitting around after manufacturing, it requires lubrication to function properly.:driver:
Diesel Don 11-07-2007, 09:19 AM Put a short length of tubing on the fumoto and drain direct into 2.5 gallon jug, skip the oil drain pan completely!
fugga 11-07-2007, 10:04 AM so far,one of the best accessories I ever bought. at first the valve was hard to operate until some oil lubed it ....
Sierra NV 11-17-2007, 12:58 PM Glad I did a search and found this. First oil change is coming up soon, and figured I'd put a Fumoto on the drainpain. Would any of you recommend getting the Fumoto with the nipple on it for a short length of hose, or just go with the regular Fumoto with no nipple. From what I've read on here, my first oil change is probably going to be a little bit messy - hopefully the Fumoto will make things neater from then on out...
And hopefully I won't need a Gorilla to get the oil filter off:cussing:
