A sales man at a dealership told me that the Denali Suburbans have a back up camera integrated into the nav screen. Theoretically the system/screen is the same as on the 2500HD. Theoretically it has the same wiring harness.

Has anyone tried to hot wire the camera?

the nav has to be reprogrammed to accept the back up camera

Is this something that can be added with the proper harness, camera, and re-programming????

A buddy of mine just bought a set of adapters from a company called Coastaltech (check their site at coastaltech.com). He has an 08 Sierra SLT with Factory NAV. The first of the three kits he bought will allegedly enable him tie his cellphone into the OnStar system, and display his numbers on the NAV system (or maybe the DIC, like the standard OnStar set up). The other two parts are an iPod adapter to run his iPod through the radio and display the info on the NAV screen, as well as a backup camera and the associated wiring to run it through the NAV system. He too mentioned it would need to be reflashed to accept the camera. I assume the dealer will do this, but I'm not sure.

BEWARE!! If it is an 08... IT'S NOT THAT EASY!!! I am in a battle right now to get GM Tech line to give the Service MGR. (Thanks Chuck with B.H.) at Bill Heard Chevrolet the codes to get into the system to program it. Before you jump off and say how easy it is try it! The NEW 08's are hard to deal with. One member here has had it done (that I know of), "Tallone" and I used his info and contact person and so far we have.... nothing! GM Tech line said if it wasn't installed from the factory they would not support it. I stood there, in the shop with Tech II, and tried myself. We even hooked the truck "pass thru". At one point we had to take the extra 34 minutes to up date the tech II! My buddy is almost at the point to pull everything and install Z2!

BTW I would like to give a thank you to "tallone" for the contact info. I'm sure it will be taken care of (one way or the other)

If you'll search lockpick you'll find what you're looking for in an aftermarket device.

coastaletech.com not coastaltech.com

I went to coastal tech and it sure wasn't auto related.

Just installed a back up camera with the coastaletech GM 320. Absolutely easy and works perfect. Dealer needs to unlock the back up function(instructions on the coastaletech web). $30 at my local dealer. Ask for Kelly and tell her Cam sent ya....
