I do gear changes and lift installs to supplement my body bussiness. I buy all of my ring and pinion parts from Randy's ring and pinion, great price, selection, fast shipping, quality products, and great customer service. The install might be difficult without some speciality tools and some prior knowledge of installs. If you feel you can handle this yourself, PM me for my number and I'll try to help you out.Best of luck.

If you are going to have gears installed go with Richmond or Motive. They make some nice stuff. I think you will find their prices are nice and the quality is worth the money.. There are some others out there as well but I do not think they will last as long. Just my info from what I have used in the past...

I'm afraid I don't follow. Are you talking about application?

ive gone on line to check it out and have seen different sizes and applications, and install kits and dont even know what i need and what i dont - or am i better off just having a friend with an automotive shop do all that for me ?

You need to look for an AAM 11.5 for the rear and a GM 9.25 IFS for the front. These are the way the axles are referred to by most vendors. If your mileage is less than 25,000 I would just buy the basic install kits consisting of crush sleeve, pinion nut, pinion seal, and shims. You shouldn't need a complete bearing kit at less than that mileage.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a question for you. I am originally from Morgantown and my family still lives there. Anyways, my brother recently swapped from 3.73s to 4.10s and got his parts from Randy's R&P. He had the PCM tweaked to accomodate the change but now the ABS light stays on. Seems to be the front ABS sensors. Any ideas of what is going on?

Nice to hear from a fellow Hillbilly.Where does your family live in Morgantown? I live in the Suncrest area. I'm having the same problem with mine,so far it seems to occur less and less as the computer "learns" what's going on.I don't know if this could be fixed with a GM Tech II or not. Anybody?

BigBlockBill,

My family lives right next to Marilla Park, and my brother who is having the problem lives on top of the hill above Morgantown High. He took it to a dealership but they don't seem to know how to do it. They say they don't have the software. Anyways, the truck runs great and he has picked up 1.5 miles per gallon, and he can tow in overdrive so mileage is up there also. But that DAMN! ABS light is on and we can't figure it out.

How long has your brother had this problem? What does his truck look like? Is it a CC SB with 35's, Silver Birch?

He has had the problem now for about 3 months maybe a bit longer. His truck is a 1999 Silverado 1500 ext cab w/the 5.3 gasser. It's green (two-tone w/silver). I know it's a gasser, but maybe someone else has had this problem fixed and the cure will cross over to the gasser. Everybody is saying that it is the tuning in the PCM, but when the shop swapped out the gears (front & rear)they used the same reluctor. Seems to me that you would need a reluctor for the 4.10, but so far no one agrees with that. I know you must change reluctors on the Caprice/Impala SS when going from 3.08s to 3.73s and they use the same gear sets as the trucks. But the scanner says that the rear sensor is right on with the speedo and it's the 2 front sensors that are out of whack. The guy that tuned the PCM says there is no way to access that part of the program, so I guess he is gonna have to live with it or drop 3 - 400 bucks for a Predator or Hypertech and hope that will fix it. Anyways, that's the deal. He lives up on Webster Ave. off of Grand st.

Tell him to buy the Hypertech. I got one on my wife's Avalache (She's cool too you know). It works as advertised. A little more pep too.
