: Injectors shot again
DMAX_MXR 10-18-2007, 07:20 PM Well since done the truck starts great when cold, but now I'm noticing longer starts when warm, prolly another 2-3 cranks. It still starts the first try but its getting longer and longer. Balance rates are high to me. most around 3.5ish in park besides cylinder number 7. In drive a couple of them are near or a little over 5. No smoke or fuel in oil as of yet. The ppe say main injection -3.0 and when I first had it done, it was only -1.0. I think there shot again. Is this gonna be a habbit of this truck, if so then I'll fix it and sell it for a newer dmax (LBZ).
8100 Power 10-18-2007, 07:38 PM How many miles on your truck now?
DMAX_MXR 10-18-2007, 07:46 PM 91,600ish junk!
DMAX_MXR 10-23-2007, 11:01 PM pffft I took it in and they said no codes and balance rates were good. They also said my battery was shot with an open cell. Well they charged me $80 for just that and I was pissed. Threw in a new batt and it cranks over faster but still takes the same amount to crank. They also said that gm only covers injectors once, well to hell with that and them, I'll trade it in and they can stick it in there ass. They also commanded the high pressure pump to 160mpa and it did it just fine he told me. To be honest, shouldnt my balance rates be more close to 0 or -0. after replacing??? I'm going to try running some 2 stroke oil in my tank and see if it gets my balance rates get better. I'm cutting this fuel filter apart this time to see if it is shot.
DMAX_MXR 10-23-2007, 11:38 PM Well after replacing so many filters on this truck I cut this one open. This filter is going on 91,800 miles and was black with grit floating in the remander of the bottom half of the filter. So, with 2,000 miles on it its shot. Something aint right. This has to be why it starts good with a new filter and gets worse the more I drive it. Should I drop the tank and clean it all out???

You buying your fuel at the same place everytime?

All 8 after just being replaced should read about 0.35ish. Mine are still in perfect shape and thats exactly what I saw out of them today!

That is what I did, and confirmed in my case it was not bad fuel. Changing my filter made the symptoms of bad injectors go away for a couple hundred miles, then less and less, until they agreed to change the injectors.
DMAX_MXR 10-24-2007, 10:33 PM Well see I've been there once before. I'm now watching my balance rate slowly go up on #7. It was 3.9-4.0 now its 4.3-4.4. In drive it was 4.9-5.0 now its 5.3-5.6. So I bet #7 is on its way out. It was perfect after they redid them (all 8) and slowly got shitier for starting when warm. It still starts ok. But not as well when it was first done, even after I just replaced the filter. Well I guess I'll wait until it doesnt start or smokes or has fuel in the oil. Then they can do it all over again. It starts great when cold though, weird.
DMAX_MXR 10-24-2007, 10:38 PM I will add that It was low on fuel and I topped it off with fleet farm gold diesel and added 2qts of 2stroke oil to see if it helps. I put in around 23 gallons. If anything the balance rates went up after the full tank with 2stroke oil.
sparky1562 10-24-2007, 10:49 PM Mine started fine when cold, just not when hot.
DMAX_MXR 10-24-2007, 11:00 PM I dont know what to do. I dont wanna pay anymore money for plugging in a tech 2. I'm debating maybe I can just do a return test myself and replace them myself out of my own pocket if I determine there shot again. I dont want to tell them I plugged in my programmer and determined balance rates are getting high. It was already apart again so it cant be too hard.
sparky1562 10-25-2007, 09:39 PM I think I would make them look at it again. They may have screwed up the cups or something.
I just think it is to costly to walk away from the special policy with out a fight!
DMAX_MXR 10-26-2007, 12:45 AM Honestly now I dont think the ppe tells balance rates because it says ms instead of mm so I'm thinking thats just pulse rates.
