Anyone have trouble getting their PESWIPS to hold it's programming. I've reprogrammed it 3 times and it seems to accept it and work for about 10 minutes and then some of the buttons stop working and switch around. The programming is easy so it's not a user issue. All connections are good. Other than defective anyone have any ideas...

Thank you!

Just spoke with PAC yesterday about this same problem. I have a D3, Metra Wiring Harness, and the SWI-PS. It has something to do with power fluctuation, and I do not know anything about power, so all I can do is post what he sent me. He says that to alleviate the problem, a "Single Pole Double Throw relay" needs to be installed. Here is his email to me, and I have attached the PDF he sent as well:

"Automotive SPDT relay 12v

85- +12 acc from metra interface (red)

86- gnd (black)

87- +12v Battery (yellow on radio)

30- SWI-PS interface red acc wire.

Install the diode as shown in the attached instructions. Anode to 86 and cathode (grey stripe) to 85. The diode should be a 1N400x family diode."

I hope this helps, and hopefully somebody with more understanding with this stuff will elaborate.

Talked with Peripheral today. Turn out you have to hold the programming buttons for 5 seconds not until just the LED goes out. Did that and it programmed. So far so good but we'll see if it drops the learning...

PESWIPS is an electronic module sold by peripheral electronics that enables the user to be able to control a non factory radio with the factory steering wheel controls. Once you program it you can use the factory controls.
PACWIPS is the same thing but from another company.
