Has anyone ever thought of making a trans brake for the allison trans. I would think that the 60 foot times would improve if someone could do it......you would have to have a stout trans though, but from what I have heard they make some pretty indestructable aftermarket tranny's.....Man would that be fun....it would be alot more consistent also...Just a thought what do all you tranny guru's think?

Allison makes this for the series. However, I do not think it will work very well. FYI, it's a drum brake.

I think you would see a bunch more trashed C1 assemblies but it would be interesting to attempt.

Mounts on tail shaft. Maybe Allison has it on their website?

You are making peak HP at about 2500-3000 RPM for most trucks. You can powerbrake it to 2500. Not sure if you will see a big gain holding it to 3000 instead, as when you release, it will drop.
The reason a trans brake works on a bracket car, is that the brakes won't hold peak HP RPM. With the 4wd Disc setup, this is not as much of an issue. 3 times the braking force at the drive axles than a 2WD setup.

The Duramax can make so much torque off idle at low RPMs that I don't think you need a transbrake for most of us. My brakes work okay also though if my torque comes in too quickly something is going to "move", hopefully in the correct direction.

I agree.

Not to mention the broken axles and front steering from the sudden slam.
Atleast w/ power braking the driveline is tight.
I know 6000rpm launches w/ a BBC and glide was fun in my altered, not to mention the 1.1 60' times.
