I've read the posts on bug shields and/or 3m tape covering. I've always had a bug shield on all of my trucks. Now I have a new body style Chevy HD 4x$ and was wondering if I want to change the front end look by adding a bug shield. Got to thinking about the 3m tape fix and started wondering. has anyone tried a color matching spray like the over the rail spray in liners for the bed of the truck???

I think, that if you color matched the liner for the front 2 inches of the hood like you do a truck bed, it would keep dings and dents off better than the 3m tape and look less noticable than a standard bug shield + little to no change in the air flow around the front of the truck.

Has anyone tried this? Am I going to be the first? What are your thoughts?!?!

I've seen an entire front end(and just about everything else) with Rhino coating on it...but that was on a Jeep. Not too sure how it'd look on the slick frontend of a street truck.

I do like the way the black Line-X coating looks on certain winch bumpers with angled surfaces. Someone posted pictures a couple days ago and it looked awesome.

One thing I can think of is the rougher texture will make it harder to clean the bug platter off. Although it will also hide it a bit better as well.:confuzeld

I'd be interested to see how it comes out, but I'm not brave enough to do it to my own truck.:p:

The coations might haave a simular color but you won't get the gloss or shine that the truck has so you will see it pretty well I would think. Also there would be a definite line all around the front of the truck that will be a big lip because of the thick coating them selves. I've seen rocker panels done but they follow the factory lines of the truck and I think that looks god but not so much on the front like the hood.

Xtra has five years before you lose 5-10% of the gloss, similar to the paint already on the truck! Available in over 900 colors including the color code on the truck. We do it all the time- my buddy has a LMM that is black and we are going to do a "bra" on it next week because it's already chipped up and he does not like the clear bra or vinle bra.
