I've had problems with aftermarket Winter wheels pitting and want to try to prevent that. I heard there is something that can be used on the wheels to protect them and it's supposed to work pretty good but I don't remember what the product is. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I don't know of anything that really protects well against salt. Salt just destroys stuff and quickly. Best bet is not to run good rims during the winter. Thats the reason I kept my stock rims as who cares if they get eaten up by the salt.

Back in my lowrider days....lol..I used to use spray wax. I would clean them really well, then really coat them with the wax. They would look very dull, but protected well from salt. The cool thing is when you are ready for them to shine, just wipe them off. Then before another snowstorm, just clean and spray the wheels. This always worked well for me.

Poorboys wheel Sealant is a pretty good one. Makes it hard for anything to stick to them. My downfall is that I won't clean off what still sticks to them in the winter, so I did get a bit of pitting on one of my chrome rims. I'm pretty sure it's just cheap chrome on the MKW's anyway.

Tere is product that lots of guys use on the plowing equipment that they all swear buy, look it up "fluid film". I myself run steel painted rims to avoid the worry.

I used to use Vegitable Spray, like Pam.
Worked good and the warm water at the car wash would take it right off in the spring.
Accually had a can in the truck during winter.
That got some interesting looks now and then...

Johndeerrm,
which of the cosmoline products do you use. Is it hazy or does the chrome still shine? Thanks, mick

Keep the stock wheels and put some winter tires on them. You will love the winter tires in the snow.
