cause..... a lot of what I read here suggests that Suburban frames/ bodies present more of a problem for 4 inch exhausts than trucks.

Plus, I saw a dyno report ( can't find it now) showing the difference between 3.5 and 4 inch is negligable.

I know that Kennedy diesel sells a 3.5 in. for suburban and they have dyno results with it.

Dmax exhaust if 3.5" It's far from a bolt-in replacement, but still gives you another (cheaper) option.

Just called Banks. Their system uses a 3" inch muffler inlet,on the Suburban, so that kinda defeats the purpose of having a larger exhaust in my book.

I asked the kid why and he said so it is CARB approved!?? What is that I asked. He said, "oh it's just the standard that all exhausts have to meet to be federally approved"..

Good bye!

I have the Banks on my truck now, will soon be a 4" Heath, I really can't complain about what it did for mine, but for max performance I do have ability to remove/replace the soot trap with a test pipe (off road only) so it's 3" down from turbo to muffler, & 3.5" out of muffler & back, many run just 3" all way and are happy with that; biggest killer we know is the crushed down pipe, into the soot trap.

4" Heath on the Burb fitment wasn't too difficult mostly it was an instruction issue of which clamp fits where, and how to rotate pipe to clear body obstructions. Nobby & I were able to get him back on track on phone & with pics I sent him following my installation of one I put on my Burb.

OK so I am pretty much done with my 4" Heath Exhaust install and I would not say 4" is not a problem for a burb. To be honest shaving of 1/2" is not really going make all that much of a difference. I did have to make 1 modification to the forward hangar which Turbine Doc and I discussed but it did not require welding, just used coupling nuts and threaded rod to extend the hangar bolts. Although TD got his to fit without doing this it sure makes things easier. This is not what I would call plug and play but it sure looks to be a lot less work than Kennedys 3.5" system. I'll also say this the bends in the downpipe are absolutely spot on it fits better than a glove. I also used wraparound clamps which allow for easier future maintenance and make the small adjustments for line up much easier than using regular U-Clamps. I intend to post pictures and a better write up when completely done

cheers

I just finished the swap 3.5" Banks, to 4" Heath, on the truck 4 hours to install start to finish (without instruction sheet) but this is 3rd go round for me. On the truck it was a plug and play fit, hardest part was removing the Banks which has been on since 2000.

Did a quick test drive snappier response and less back pressure, it's later but I'll post info with pics later in a separate thread. Banks 3.5 isn't one to use IMO, it's muffler has offset inlet & exhaust so it is not straight thru flow, I don't know if improvement is from upping the 1/2" to a 4" system, better flow with straight thru pipe, or combination of both, but for trucks easiest thus far I've installed, Burb was almost plug & play but required a little more massaging to put it on that.

Keep those reports coming. Wife just brought me the checkbook after paying the bills, so it will be a month or so before I need to decide:(
