I am looking at a 97 P30 stepvan w/ a 6.5 for my business. I have a few questions. Although the engine may be the same one in my burb it looks like the IP is different. Is it? It doesn't look like has a turbo either. The air cleaner looks like one of the old round ones that you would find on a 70 style mustang. Do they have a different trany than my 3/4 ton burb? I was trying to find the vin # lookup on this site but couldn't find it. Oh it also has 80k miles. Any info is greatly appreciated.

I have a 94 P-30 (Grumman body). I think they all have a non turbo on the 6.5, with a non electronic IP. The trans in mine is a 4L80E. They are good strong vans but kind of slow.:chevy:

Check your accelerator pedal - mechanical cable or drive by wire. Best way to tell is getting IP model number. But method one should tell you a story.
I guess I'll have to go back and check some more things out. The trany is the 4 speed auto. When I got it up to 55mph it sounded like it needed another gear. It is a dually and I didn't think that it was the gearing in the diff that is slowing it down.
I do have the vin. Does that help determining what it has?
Oh I didn't say in the original post it is a retired PG &E (gas and electric company) work truck. It has a 7000 watt diesel generator using the same tank as the truck for diesel. They are asking $9750 for the truck w/ generator included. Is this a good deal?

Check your listing of RPO codes to see what rear it's got in it. May be lower than a 4.10. (meaning it's gonna be a real screamer at highway speeds)
