: dont know what to do
Twister773 10-15-2007, 04:35 PM ready to do some upgrades...as of now only have the money to do one or the other....do i do the tranny first, and then the lift pump, tie rod sleeves, ex....or do i do the lift pump and tie rod sleves and then save up for the tranny at a later time...im thinking about a sc 3 with 1056 converter
Twister773 10-15-2007, 04:36 PM oh, and i dont plan on sled pulling or drag racing....just want a fast truck that is reliable...check my sig for current mods...what do you guys think about the quesiton above and is a sc3 all i should need? thanks again
99cummins08 10-15-2007, 04:39 PM ah.... well the first thing i would do is go buy a dodge.
99cummins08 10-15-2007, 04:42 PM just kidding i have a friend that decided to fix up his truck first and then go with a trany and now he not only need a tq converter a shift kit and input and output shafts but a new bellhousing aswell. i would go with the trany first if your planning to put some major power in it
Twister773 10-15-2007, 04:45 PM not major power...i dont plan on adding any more power than the stock motor can handle...no pistons, head studs...ex. how much power can i put to it before i need to start worrying about things like that
99cummins08 10-15-2007, 04:50 PM well believe it or not man that trany is your weakest link. the guy im talkin about used to have an edge juice and never had a prob but then he switched over to efi and went to dumping in 300 hp tunes. but if i had to guess i would get a shift kit and you'll be fine for up to and added 150 hp
Twister773 10-15-2007, 04:54 PM yea i realize that...but im wondering if i have like 650rwhp will my stock engine internals hold that>
billygoat7c 10-15-2007, 05:44 PM i think that would be pushing it, id say do the trans and tie rod sleeves first. ~500rwhp is obtainable on a stock motor with stock turbo. the lift pump will help that, but i think the other two things are more important to start with
BullydogPowered 10-15-2007, 05:50 PM dont do what everyone else does (including me) and buy power first. get the tranny done then get the rest, dont need the rest without a tranny...
500 hp is about the max for stock internal reliability...
jneal 10-15-2007, 05:52 PM Do the tranny first if sled pulling or drag racing is not in your future.
Twister773 10-15-2007, 05:53 PM im doing the tranny first..thanks all
duramaxin14 11-08-2007, 04:54 PM Twister for sure make tranny number 1. As long as u can keep timing down and egts cool i dont see why u could push it to the 650 mark with SPARY. Fuel only would be way to hot for stock bottom ends.
Smoken_LB7 11-08-2007, 05:52 PM 500 hp is about the max for stock internal reliability...
Is that flywheel or rwhp?
06Dmaxpwr 11-08-2007, 06:01 PM Is that flywheel or rwhp?
Rearwheel is what i say and thats a safer number. Once you start hitting up to 600 your a ticking time bomb IMO. :D

Twister773 11-08-2007, 07:39 PM yea...my bday is on the 10th of december and then christmas...hopefully i can build the tranny in december early january...
