Hey all. Just thought I would post a get to know ya note. This isnt all in fun either I do have a few serious questions.
I just bought my 2001 DMAX. the other day (about 2 weeks ago) It has right at 100,000 miles on it. Its a 3500 with the Allison tranny. Anyways make a long story short, I was driving down the interstate, went to pass, runnin about 75 mph. passed the feller and then it just fell on its face, it slowed down to about 25 and would not gain over 2000 rpms, pulled over on shoulder and let cool down then shut it off, it fired right back up but my SES light stayed and still would not go over 25mph so I limped it to town (5 miles away:mad: ) Got to town and shut it down let sit for about 20 min. and fired up...but my SES light was still onCensored So I went ahead and drove home...next morn. light was off and all was well. So what is this fuel filter...injectors...what:confused: . On a side note I need some helpful pointers to show my better half I NEED the Banks 6 gun chip:D
Thanks yall...sorry for the long post.

Need to get the truck scanned and see what code was set before doing anything. And Welcome to the forum!

I'm with the Tech.

Adding a Performance enhancer right now will only add insult to injury. It would be best to get the truck in best running condition stock first.

Ditto,welcome to the DieselPlace!

Thank you for the welcom dmaxalliTech for the warm welcome. What codes should I look for? AS you can tell Im new to this whole computer thing as my last truck was a 1993 Ford F-250 Turbo Diesel i.e. No computers. Sorry if my questions may come across dumb...just tryin' to learn.

Need to see a dealer or such that has a scan tool to access the codes. Autozone or other box parts stores may also be able to read them too.. Once we know what is causing the light to come on, we can proceed with a diag stratagy

One other quick question to ask. What should I be looking for at 100,000 miles? This truck seems solid as a rock, so far I have hauled tractors with it(total about 13,000#'s) and a few loads of hay totaling 14,000#s. Gross load (truck trailer, load) was around 25,000#s. Thanks all for the warm welcomes.
